I agree that every situation in itself is different, there are so many variables that (although it is a good video) you can't simply apply it to all situations. That is also why we need stewards (who have raced themselves) to judge every situation (we might not all agree always but at least they have judged the then current situation) and have taken (to the best of their abilities) the rules but also the actual situation into consideration .

Here for example we have a very similar situation (but of course not the same) no 2 situations ever are, where Bruno Senna also made slight moves (like Max) but still Schumacher got penalized for rearending him.

I can live with the both are to blame judgment but I have a more hard time with all this Max is the bringer of all things Evil in this world "consensus" that some seem to want to enforce.

Perhaps both stalled their engines - highly likely in the scenario they were in.

Does someone know why did the Red Bulls stop after the come together?
It looks like Ricciardo could have continued, and change the front wing, no?
IRC Rici had front wing under his car, and Max probably to much damage.

At this point i would like to quote a part of Ross Brawn interview to understand what is that we are saying for 3 days now.

"But I would like to highlight a technical point. Once Daniel had settled for his line, and Max had changed direction blocking that line, the Australian became a passenger. The downforce loss experienced by Ricciardo in the wake of Verstappen's car would have made it unstoppable. We often think of downforce in cornering, but the impact the extra grip has in braking is huge. Take away that grip in braking and what happened on Sunday was inevitable”

I've posted that too in the race topic and the mad max fan bois ignored it because it contradicts their 1 move fantasy.

You are allowed to go back or move towards the racing line in order to make the turn.

If your original position was the racing line, and then you move offline for the 1st defensive move, then and only then with extreme caution and always leaving enough space if you have a car besides you, you are allowed to go towards the racing line again in order to make the turn.
Wrong, false and incorrect.

“To make a turn” has absolutely nothing to do with it- nothing.

Nothing to discuss here anymore, I’ll leave you all to it- so you can all agree with each other.

Cheers!

Same stuff, only difference is that this was a short run towards the corner, slower speed and more time for Raikkonen to react to the 2nd move. Even so he barely escaped.

There is a clear pattern and the FIA is failing to make Max comply to the rules or worse than that, they are not even trying.

Agreed DFX. And for the short memoried...a lot of people here said back then, that it's just a matter of time when those kind of moves will result in Max being hit from behind when the guy behind will be desperate enough. He was lucky so far because he mainly clashed with title contenders and drivers with huge experience. Not saying D.Ric is not one of those, but this time he was desperate and determined enough to not let Max do what he wanted. Karma got him.

Ive been questioning why they didnt at least try and continue, max appeared to have minimal damage and danny ric needed a new front wing.

Here's also a very good video (with many racing driver, particularly Indycar drivers talking about the difference between blocking and defending):

Wow people, are guys that desperate to prove your point or to defend Max? I got downvoted only by posting a video of another incident as reference.. Ok then.

Considering this is F1 I think there´s something none has pointed out wich may be very relevant to the incident, or to be more precise to RBR and Ricciardo statements. He has no contract for next season.

Even if RBR didn´t directly ask him to assume some responsability, he may do it voluntarily to earn some points with the team, just in case he can´t sign a contract with any other top team.

At least I see it as a reasonable explanation about Ricciardo acknowledgement, because any other driver would be screaming about blatant blocking, specially when you saw the race, with Max colliding with Ricciardo some laps earlier, while Ricciardo always left him some space, and then the blocking

Can any of you imagine Alonso, Vettel or Hamilton assuming some responsability in this same scenario? Heck, Alonso didn´t after his crash in Melbourne even when it was a lot more clear he was (IMO, and I´m his fan) partially guilty

Actually, the racing line most commonly referred to the quickest way around the track, which will be pretty equal for 90% of the time for all cars.
Yes what Phil said, 100%.
Sure.. so where is the racing line for example in wet races?
C'mon G-J, can you try & be serious, already?

Does your 'unique' way of seeing, somehow also.. miss the 'dry line' which tyre contact clears, on a wet track..
& thus also clearly shows - the 'racing line' emerging..
