I´m a bit surprised about the lap time difference around Spa when compared to F1. 1:58.3 for LMP1 (FP1) when F1 did 1:45.5 (FP1 too). I know they´re different philosophies, but didn´t know the difference is so big, specially when taking into account the dramatic drag difference between the two categories. Power is similar, so obvioulsy the difference comes from DF

Obviously LMP1 cars don´t have a front wing comparable to F1 cars. What about the floor? It is that different too?

As you may guess, this is my first time watching WEC. I´m eager to see Alonso winning something, almost as much as himself

I really hope that he wins the 24h of Le Mans, but i can't stop to think about how unfortunate Toyota has been there, and Alonso who is someone who we can't say have been lucky in recent years... hope they can brake spell.

I'm not sure if downforce is so much lower. they have front diffusers, a bigger floor area and wider rear wings, not to mention lower turbulence from the covered wheels.
I guess that weight and their rock hard tyres are a bigger part of that difference.

Limited use of energy per lap, and no DRS. With no energy limits and a DRS those car are faster

Drs gives you around .3 of a second a lap, insignificant for a difference of around 15 seconds. And energy deployment alone won't make up for 15 seconds as well. Porsche had to extract more power from their ERS, ICE, reduce weight and add a lot of downforce to brat an F1 car.
So no, even with no energy limit and DRS those cars aren't faster.

Alonso's car will start on pole after the car that set the pole was disqualified for problems with their fuel flow sensors.
The #7 Toyota will start from the pitlane after every car has completed the first lap.

Those of you that wanted Alonso on the top step of the podium will get their wish, i think the #7 still finishes second honestly.

Fernando demonstrated some pure masterclass on his first attempt on something different and on a completely stranger team to him and the sh@ttalking started already. You realize that in WEC they play with different fuel loads and tires, right? Grats to Fernando, finally his skills has been shown again! (it was also shown even in Indy/Daytona).

Good to see him back on the top step. Didn’t watch the whole race but can only recall one mistake when Conway was close and Alonso couldn’t decide which way to go to overtake the cars in front and nearly hit them, didn’t cost him though as Conway pitted
