Scuderia Ferrari SF71H

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Very smart from Ferrari, I wonder if anyone else has realised that with allowing teams to mount mirrors, they have opened up space for small winglets all over the place?

Why did I think I saw them mounted on the halo in Baku?

Can anybody confirm if the alleged engine tricks are to be officially investigated?

The mirrors do look crazy on the halo.

But for me, what looks even stranger are the two wing things that are also attached. Arguably who cares about looks if its fast.... but I bet they look really crap when you see the full car.

Ferrari’s current technical team are on point. Binotto is the man! I really hope ferrari are providing the current team a great environment to be productive (it would certainly appear so) and also throwing money at them to lock them down. For the first time in a decade, our technical team is in a really good place. Our car is fast, innovative, and pushing boundaries. People are throwing mud and hoping something sticks to get something banned and so far nothing...

Really really proud of the team. Hopefully they can keep it up.

Here you can see that the air is also going through the sides not only through top and bottom. Maybe it's just not fully assembled yet.

Now we know why the FIA suddenly decided to allow mirrors on the halo...Ferrari obviously had this intention and asked for a FIA "classification".

Could very well be the case. And like halo itself wasn't ugly enough, this is just too much IMHO

I wonder if the benefit is as dramatic as they look?

It seems to free up a huge amount of space for air to go over the side pod. But I guess there is still the same drag, if not more when counting the wing bits.
