Lance's mistakes driving a difficult car= Sky with loads of criticism (he's "overdriving").
Now that you've brought that to my attention that's really wound me up, I knew we they were biased to RB but it's shockingly obvious now

Hamilton second fastest, even though on the slower tyre?

well the difference is Max is clearly faster than his future WDC teammate, whereas Stroll couldnt even beat a driver who came back from retirement

Yep, Lewis was on the ultras and was only 0.088 of Max who was on the Hypers.

His performance is another topic, I personally am okay with him, but it's double standards to use the "he's young" card for Max while ignoring it for Lance, who is only in his 2nd year and is driving an extremely difficult car, perhaps worse than last year. Oh and Lance is younger than Max as well.

Another golden quote, I think from Monaco - "if we're going to objectify women might as well objectify men as well" ... as if equal objectification justifies objectification at all. Hopeful I heard that wrong but seriously shocking.

I'm kinda surprised the Merc was as fast as today ... though again it was only FP1. I'm pretty sure with the new PU Ferrari will be way more difficult to fight with.

Also, I initially liked the onboard telemetry graphics they introduced ... but it's just not working. I prefer the one pre-Liberty. They're really trying to fix things that aren't/weren't broke.

Hamilton is going to have to earn his pay this weekend, he'll *NEED* his usual 3 tenths advantage around Montreal to keep up with Vettel and Ferrari's new PU. Pole here for Ferrari is a given, if not then let the accusations fly. Too much circumstantial evidence to deny wrongdoing. I'll be okay pretending everything was on the up and up though if it's been nipped by the FiA.

I don't know he is looking pretty strong so far.

he was P2 +0.088 in FP1 on slower tires. He currently sets P1 in FP2 with a time 0.36 faster than his FP1 time even though he on an even slower tire than he was in FP1.

From today’s running you’d say Mercedes and particularly Hamilton look in good shape; let’s see if that continues tomorrow.

FP1 and FP2 were a mess with all the incidents. Very inconclusive.

I am wondering if there is already something to say about the Honda PU upgrade. Does anyone has a time comparison of FP1 of last year? Very rough estimate indeed, but it may say something. Gasly 1.7s down of the front runner is quite a lot isn't it?
Don't most of the teams use their former PU in FP1 and FP2 anyway? So hard to tell from this point of view.

After FP2 race simulation runs (although we don`t know the engine modes, fuels levels and so on) we could see Lewis doing even high 1.15 on US and mid to high 1.15 on SS tyre being constantly - on average - 2-3 tenths quicker than Bottas, 4 tenths to Max and 5-6 tenths from Kimi and Vettel was on another programme ...

Also, there were interesting top speeds: Vettel 10km/h more than Kimi (maybe a tow, different RW downforce levels or engine mode) but also Leclerc did 333km/h ...
Then Honda engine doing strong and perhaps better than Renault, even though is the same story: engine mode, fuel levels, RW AoA and so forth ...
Merc went from 322-324km/h in FP2 to let`s say standard 320km/h but what was more important is their top speed without DRS enabled is better than RB, as Max presumably implied when he said on Sky they are quicker on the straights.

Nonetheless, after drivers briefing Max, Ricci and Vettel said that Mercs are ahead so far ...
