Fastest laps were done on Softs
According to Autosport Lewis was on mediums, unless he made a quick stop and they completely missed it.
Definitely softs on his 3rd timed lap so tyres past their best at that stage but it was his best lap of the second session, first two flying laps were scrappy so more to come tomorrow.

Yep definitely on softs. I watched in horror as the Mercedes pace in FP1 was ominous... but he had a few scruffy laps but still ultimately ended up under 2 tenths behind. I’m calling a Mercedes pole, but by a slimmer margin that in Austria.

Hmm, normally it's Ferrari that is sandbagging on FP1 & FP2, is Merc doing the same thing now? Or is Ferrari just a lot quicker?

Seb for sure working out on that new package :)

Looking at FIA FP2 sheets, am I mad or did Vettel(Medium) run similar times to Lewis (Soft)?

I remember seeing Vettel out on mediums during long runs and Hamilton on softs

Yes Vettel started his long run on 7 laps old Mediums and Hamilton did his first one on Softs but I don't know how old these were.

Ferrari fastest in FP2 in Silverstone - wasn't expecting that.
It's close though, Vettel was on softs and Lewis was on mediums.
Both drivers set their fastest lap times on the soft...

Race pace for merc looks out of reach - 7 tenths between them and Ferrari according to Sky
I don't know what Sky is talking about? Mercedes at no times was 7 tenths faster on race pace. Vettel was as fast as Hamilton on 17 laps old Mediums whereas Hamilton was on 12 laps old Softs and also in general Vettel was at least matching Hamilton.

Maybe Mercedes is sandbagging and Sky knows every detail, I don't know. :)

Thanks for sharing! I was disappointed when they said it tbh. They said Hamilton’s average lap time was a 1:33.1, raikkonens a 1:33.8 and Bottas a 1:33.4. Was that just one random lap they looked at? Ricciardo was in the 34’s and they didn’t mention Vettel due to tyre discrepancy

There are also two more things to add:

1. Vettel's long run obviously was 15 laps long and Hamilton's 8 laps.
2. Vettel started his long run on 10 laps old Mediums and Hamilton on 6 laps old Softs.

So very professional stuff from Sky telling that Mercedes is ahead by 7 tenths just by looking at some averages without considering any other factors whatsoever. =D>
Or, like I told, maybe Sky just knows more than us, for example a possible sandbagging by Mercedes. :)

The problem with SKY was, the driver was number 44, the car a mercedes, the place Silverstone.
