Race pace in clean air is irrelevant.
These cars cannot follow each other that well. And this track is very difficult for following and overtaking.

Yes but I was expecting more from the start and the race pace. The beginning was too easy. As I mentioned some days ago Mercedes worked hard to have better starts and we have seen the results today.

I do feel for Bottas. After driving so well for so long, the tyres just wouldn't last and he lost out big time. Real shame.

Easy win for Hamilton.

However, Merc was just panicked with Bottas to cover Raikkonen. It was unnecessary which eventually created a wounded Bottas for the wolves

Also, now Ferrari owes a "thank you" to Pirelli. I was sure the tire would explode after Bottas wing buried in it.

From what do you take that? Vettel was clearly faster after the overtake.

YES. And they shouldn't pit him so early just to attract Bottas and let Vettel behind Lewis.

The point I made, has got nothing to do with Ferrari. So don't quote me for something I am not saying. Still I will clarify, Kimi lost out at the start, and the reason he finished third, was because of his two stop strategy and not fifth, like Bottas.

Bottas couldn't have done anything other than what he did. He had to pit when he did to cover kimi. Then tried to make the tyres last until the end. What could he/merc have done different? ?

I'm a Ferrari and Vettel fan but they just weren't good enough

You can't expect to win when you start third and fourth on a track where overtaking is nearly impossible in a championship where the best cars a basically equal.

Because if he didn't defend so hard people would have moaned that he didn't defend hard.

Clumsy from Bottas with a last ditch effort to keep his nose in it. But you also have to wonder why on earth Vettel pinched him like that. The place was his by a mile even if he gave a car and a half up the inside. We see time and time again outside line on that corner is great for overtaking.
