Franz Tost said so during the FP live coverage on German TV. The performance was pretty poor yesterday though, especially during the longruns, so they need quite a big step, not only from the engine side.

Usually the team has quite a good pedigree in the rain, but no idea how the drivers would cope. Or what the drivability of the new engine is like

Hartley said it in an interview yesterday and Franz Tost in an interview on N-TV in front of the camera.

Interesting choice of switching to Spec 3.1 in FP3. I'd question if FP3 was enough time to redo all set up since the PU is so different in delivery. Looking at GAS in FP3 I guess it went okay!

And faster than everybody exept the Haas drivers!

I haven't seen his laps, but as he set his fastest time on the first run in Q3 (with used tires), he probably just made a mistake in the 2nd one (which was three tenths slower, with new tires)

Acc to Ted the LH cheerleader, Gasly reverted back to old aero spec and only Hartley had the new aero spec. Damm, Hartley might as well pack up and let Kyvat drive his car in Abu Dhabi.

I think Hartley lost his seat already or maybe keep going as a surprise. But your comment assume it it is for sure new aero package working well. But according to Hartley's comment it just changes cars behaviour let Hartley to be more comfortable and not good for Gasly style. If it would be faster as a package I think Gasly also would use it

They're actually used to this Friday PU+gearbox. Wouldn't want a practice shunt to ruin a race engine.
Though I read on motorsport that the suspected damage of the spec3.0 engine turned out to be OK afterall despite the concerns.

Horrible race for Gasly, losing seconds to Haas and Saubers every lap from beginning. They concentrated on race pace and still could not get the setup. Suppose he will say he had damage on floor.
