Sad day of F1 to see the Sauber name go in history
if i am not wrong sauber was long gone.. ericsson's swiss sponsors rescued the team and backed it with the same name. But now with ericsson gone so does his sponsor.. and hence the name sauber disappears.
Ericsson's backers are still running the team but they are Swedish/Scandinavian and motorsport enthusiasts...
They had the chance to sign Kimi Raikkonen instead and took it (Ferrari chooses the other driver as part of the technical deal and picked Giovinazzi). So Ericsson is off to race in Indycar still with Longbow backing and Alfa Romeo Sauber becomes Alfa Romeo which would have been the original plan.
I'll miss the name but last year everyone was still calling the team Sauber, for marketing reasons they had to become Alfa Romeo.
