McLaren MCL34

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Racecarengineer forgets to point out that the render shows the endplates having no in- of outwash whatsoever, yet in real life the endplates have an outwash profile. Also the 3 upper (blue) planes of the wing, the parts directly connected with the endplates have an different profile, which I think is more than just a difference in angle of attack.

I believe the wing presented in Woking will be their first iteration that they’ll test in Barcelona.

This looks slick. Certainly much better then last years car and dare I say it that it might be faster then the other Renault powered car. airbox and engine cover is nice and the nose looks tight with lots of nice aero bits. It might be a 4 spot contender especially if it had alonso driving.

Is it me or does it look a bit longer than last year?? It should be I think with the problems they had last year...and no rake there for the time being!
I think it's looking good for them this year...the car looks nicely developed unlike past seasons where it was relatively simple compared to others! :)

Re: McLaren MCL34

My take on the front wing:
McLaren, Alfa Romeo and Toro Rosso seem to have angled the wing outwards, likely as an attempt to regain the outwash that was lost with the new regulations. The raised leading edge may be there so that the "outwash" happens as high as possible in front of the tyre.

I'd like to see the chassis on the track. In my opinion, this is the best thing that represented at the beginning of the season at McLaren. =D> =D> =D>

Seems like a small winglet under the mainplate.

The new rear wheel rims are reportedly also covered in heat reducing paint and seem to have few holes for temperature management.
