Renault F1 R.S. 19

The DRS opened further than it should have ... the center part went higher than the outside

And this is why Ferrari added a swan's neck to their flap this year. RW flap is wider than ever.

Not only wider, but I think the chord has increased as well.

The thing I dont get is how the flap bent upwards. Either the high pressure above the lower element pushed it up, or the upper element was raised so high that it generated lift.

I have a feeling that end plate design will be copied by a lot of teams. Looks like its essentially adding small wings underneath which will help keep airflow attached under the wing.
Not only that, creating an upwash behind the car also will make the diffuser generate more downforce. Anyone have any clear negatives regarding airflow from this endplate solution?
Some of the other teams are moving air outwards, which also helps with the expansion at the back. The diffusers aren't only expanding air upwards, but outwards, too.
Yup. Those gills are not only pushing the air upwards, which should help the wing and create downforce on its own, but actually, to quite some extent, inwards, which conspires to fill the low pressure area under the wing. They also should create a lot of drag by themselves, but by the same filling-in of the low pressure area behind the wing, they should reduce wing drag.
As usual, it is a compromise.

Not only wider, but I think the chord has increased as well.

The thing I dont get is how the flap bent upwards. Either the high pressure above the lower element pushed it up, or the upper element was raised so high that it generated lift.
The actuator must have opened the flap to a beyond aero-centre position causing it to distort. I think they probably can resolve this by recalibrating the actuator.

I hope they can fix this quickly

This morning they weren't using DRS at all.
This afternoon they use 2018 DRS (less opening) according to F1 TV

So since D1 of testing, no real 2019 DRS usage

What is the purpose of the miniature pipe right beneath the exhaust pipe and in between the wastegate pipes? Maybe it is not a pipe but it is rather difficult to see what it really is.

That should be the oil breather.

There is information about the reason for stopping yesterday on the tests?
