Charles Leclerc looked set for his first ever victory in Formula One until an technical issue brought an end to that hope 10 laps from the end. He still limped to 3rd, completing the podium along the Mercedes drivers.
Charles Leclerc has secured his first pole position in Formula One, outqualifying his Ferrari team mate Sebastian Vettel. The result marks the 62nd Ferrari front row lockout, equalling a record jointly held by Williams and McLaren.
Verstappen 5th, he can easily end up on the podium again, he has the race pace, and Bottas and Vettel don't do well under pressure.
The top 3 are very close in terms of race pace, about .3, but Haas is very close, and McLaren has improved. Ferrari, and Mercedes, vs the soft drink championship Coca Cola McLaren, Red Bull Aston Martin Honda, Rich Energy Haas.
Is the gap between Vettel and Leclerc actual pace or did Vettel have a minor issue? If Hamilton hadn't messed up on his final lap he could've been on the front row which doesn't feel representative of Ferrari's pace.
Stroll and Hulkenberg dropped the ball badly. Great laps from K-Mag (so, so close to pipping the Red Bull) and Mclaren too.
