Well, one of the worst race of F1 since a long time...

Ferrari reliability is crap
Renault reliability is crap
Vettel... Driving as usual
Leclerc brillant, very unlucky, so sad
Honda engine still the last

Brilliant photo, shows what a couple of flat spots can do. The issue with Ferrari is probably that they have some cooling /reliability issue. Leclerc mentioned fuel issues at the end (ok very likely they were using more fuel when the mgu-k went, nor sure) but what I thought strange was the continuous gap between vet and ves in the last stint. With Ferraris pace they could've gone for p4 on fresh tires but it didn't happen. I think they derated which is a worry, all cars can overstress the engine and run in front, I have a feeling that's what we're seeing. Not to take anything away from Lecler though, perfect performance and a cool head after the race. This season will be excellent, hope RB will sort out the rear end soon for it to be even better.
My guess is that due to the gap to Verstappen after they have to nurse the car in for a front wing change, it wasn’t seem likely that they would catch the Red Bull... If that wasn’t on the cards, saving the engine by running it at a lower setting and just managing the gap to 6th was the smart move.

If it would have happened earlier in the race, they may have tried to close the gap.

So Hamilton has in no perticular order been all over social media bigging up Leclerc and saying how lucky he was, was giving Leclerc a lovely ‘big brother’ speech after the race, was seen giving an ‘I’m sorry’ wave as he passed him on track, made the point about how well Ferrari and Leclerc had gone all weekend.

I think we can safely say that Hamilton knows the score and was willing to acknowledge it as such. Just calling it as he sees it.
It's all about Vettel. Hamilton knows he can deal with Leclerc this year.
That would be pointless as you can stick a fork in Vettel, he’s done. It was just Hamilton being fair.

This BTW isn’t me trying to flame but Vettel’s driving proves he is mentally gone.

I think Vettel is just overdriving.

Having 4 titles he cannot admit to be slower than VES, HAM, LEC now, or ROS and ALO before.

He is better than WEB. He beat RAI when he already had lost its pace. But that's it actually.

Sky's grid walk is just... embarrassing.
Ham strong on corners entry and lec on exit and down the straights. Ferrari has the same traits as in 2017 and 2018

To those already calling and those who will be calling for Alonso's return to Ferrari - just a reminder of 2007 to how he dealed with a great upcoming star. Certainly what Ferrari needs right now is it?

Race was a good one. Lots of action and drama. Gutted for Leclerc. He clearly had the Ferrari he wanted under him. Vettel still not as comforrable. Todays mistake clearly shows he needs quite a few things to be in place to achieve his best.

Really hope Ferrari resolve their issues and fast!

hahah,
Vettel is driving angry and he needs to control that. Nothing more than he angrily stepped on the throttle pedal too early. He doesn't have the controlled agression like the great drivers. He needs to work on his head.
He would have fared better easing off the throttle and lining up behind lewis until the car straightens itself and then he would have another go at attacking.
Wow, that's a great impression of an armchair F1 warrior! =D>
Oh, you meant it?

lol. Yes. Vettel went on throttle too early. Sounds simple but that's what happened. Rookie mistakes from a 4xchamp
When watching the race live, I assumed that Vettel spun because of contact with Hamilton like last year. But rewatching the race footage and especially the onboards it appears that there was no contact at all. WTF? Such an unforced error.

This race was pretty entertaining! I feel for Leclerc, he didn’t put a foot wrong, only to miss out on the win like that. The safety car was an odd decision, the Renaults were not obstructing anything, but it kept Leclerc on and Verstappen off the podium, which seems fair to me.

I feel for Sainz as well, judging by Norris’ pace, he could have been up there. So far, Norris has impressed me, btw. And it looks like McLaren is a contender for 4th in the WCC.

And Alonso is still not wrong about Ferrari, lol

I quite agree, and as JYS always says it's the first mistake that nearly everyone makes when they get frustrated.

I think Vettel developed a very efficient technique in the 2.4 V8 era, especially around throttle mapping and the blown floor technologies, I don't think anyone really got a handle on him at RBR, but as soon as it changed he had this weird slump.

I think if he settles down he'll do a lot better. The spins are not something we should be seeing from someone at his level, IMHO.

It was a **great** race. Lewis drove great, he passed his teammate and Vettel who was in a faster car. Charles drove great too but it is *motor* sport, it happens. I think Vettel is in a terrible place.

After 2 races;

1) Merc and Ferrari are almost equal. From race to race one will be ahead of the other by couple tents for the first half of the season. After that, I expect to see Merc winning the development race.

2) Renault and McLaren will be fighting for the 4th best team. McLAren is the biggest surprise of the season so far for me. They are ok.

3) Rai is going great :D

I think it's gonna be between McLaren and Haas.

Wasn't there either water or contact with another car in the previous incidents?
