It's no secret that McLaren is (surprisingly) quicker on the straights and not so much on the corners this year, so Bahrain was a circuit that suited the car. I see a lot of potential, but the pace of today doesn't necessarily mean the car will be as quick during the rest of the season.
Absolutely, the expectations need to be managed and I don’t think we should be expecting the team to be in Q3 all the time... But, if they went for a car that performs better in tracks with high speed / straights they should perform well in a larger amount of tracks.
Let’s enjoy the fact that they are performing better than most expected so far and see how they develop the car moving forward.
A lot of racing left this season
