We will have a new power unit that we are introducing ahead of schedule, as the second specification was due to be brought to Canada," team boss Mattia Binotto said as he confirmed the two-race jump.

Well, if they're still behind Merc, we can call it a dayF1Fan2018 wrote: ↑07 May 2019, 17:13https://www.skysports.com/f1/news/12474 ... t-mercedes

I am guessing their new chassis upgrade is bringing more drag than they would have liked and hence the need for more power to retain the current straight line speeds. Otherwise, it doesn't make sense to bring a PU upgrade so soon in the season for a circuit that is not really a full power circuit like Canada or Britain and then the next circuit on the calendar is Monaco!F1Fan2018 wrote: ↑07 May 2019, 17:13https://www.skysports.com/f1/news/12474 ... t-mercedes

Actually they have no more time to stay with logic in their long term strategy. They are 73 points behind and without huge and immidiately boost they will be 88 more behind untill Canada...
All the races are of equal value, so it makes no sense to bring an upgrade this early. All this is going to do is limit them later in the season.
What you saying is logical. I said that Ferrari can't think in logic way, casue they are simply not allowed right now. Such big compane, under tremendous demands from fans, media in Italy etc. They MUST win as early as possible. This is Ferrari's weaknes as well - they dont may, they must.
That's a bad way to run a team. I'm a Chicago cubs fan (108 years between championships), and I'm more familiar than most about how bad it can get when you let the fans dictate team decisions.Unf wrote: ↑07 May 2019, 20:03What you saying is logical. They’ve obviously changed their plans and came to the conclusion this might be the better route. I very much doubt that media and fans made them rush a PU upgrade.dans79 wrote: ↑07 May 2019, 20:27That's a bad way to run a team. They are definitely under pressure, as the Italian press has already been hostile this season.LM10 wrote: ↑07 May 2019, 20:48They’ve obviously changed their plans and came to the conclusion this might be the better route. I love how folks posting on a message board assume, in 10 seconds, that they have thought about and concluded a better course of action than Ferrari. Because, you know, there is no one in Maranello with intelligence spending much time thinking about these matters.LM10 wrote: ↑07 May 2019, 20:48They’ve obviously changed their plans and came to the conclusion this might be the better route. Maybe they'll use PU1 at Monaco and not this oneGPR -A wrote: ↑07 May 2019, 17:33I am guessing their new chassis upgrade is bringing more drag than they would have liked and hence the need for more power to retain the current straight line speeds.
