So the Yellow Medium tyre will be the main race tyre, Vettel , Leclerc, Gasly, Verstappen will have zero experience on that tyre until the moment they put it on the car mid race! Surely thats not ideal ?!
Tyre performance changes track to track, hour to hour, I don't think this will matter at all

You can put on brick tires for the second and last stint, it really doesn’t matter in Monaco. A place gained in qualifying for having an extra set of softs or some more experience on them is much more important.
I think Nathan has a point.

Yeah sure it doesn't matter how slow you are, but surely grip levels, breaking points etc will change when they bolt the mediums eventually ,comparing to the softs.

If you haven't used them at all, there is a probability that you might end up in the barriers because you don't know exactly how they behave. For example, It can happen if you're pushing to stay in front of the other guy who is trying to overcut you.

Not at all likely, but still.

RedBull followed the same tactic last year and this year Ferrari is following them. Track evolution is a bigger change then a slightly harder compound, especially on street courses. The data you collect on Thursday on grip levels is useless anyway. Within a few corners on Sunday they know the grip levels more or less.

Yes, obviously there is no other race track where track position is more important than in Monaco. Other than collecting data on the Mediums for future reference, I don't see a single reason for more than one set.
Starting the race on them?

Starting on the medium and you will always loose. The second place on soft will be breathing in your neck for his first stint, then he goes on newer mediums, closing the gap to the guy with old mediums and by the time he goes in the pit for fresh softs, he ends up behind.

The difference is, this is Monaco which has always been notoriously difficult to overtake on. You could literally train the entire field and win. It's certainly been done at other hard to pass circuits like Hungaroring.

On a different note, I'll be in the stands near the Swimming Pool on Thursday. I hope to get some interesting photos and video. It should show which cars are doing the best on the chicane and slow sections.

Extravaganza of Automobile Procession put together annually to make the Prince and the Princess of Monaco happy. That is what Monaco is. It would be an insult to those dare devil drivers of of the bygone era, to call this a race.

Monaco is won on Saturday and with good pit work on Sunday. I'd like to see the STR cars do well.

I really dislike this track. I don't see the point of it. I love F1 but even for me this is the most boring event. Qualifying is pretty much the only thing worth watching. Mercedes will win by a country mile because low speed grip. Only thing interesting is if Bottas will win or Lewis.

Anyone has the best Barcelona S3 sector times from last GP?
To do something well is so worthwhile that to die trying to do it better cannot be foolhardy. It would be a waste of life to do nothing with one's ability, for I feel that life is measured in achievement, not in years alone. ― Bruce McLaren

There were no reports of a new suspension being tested post-Spain.

This is a list of the best S3 times from Barcelona with a linear regression to predict 2019 Monaco qualifying times:
