Could well be 4th tomorrow with the Magnussen gearbox penalty and a potential 3 place grid drop for Hamilton. Great opportunity for points tomorrow.
I dunno, but something tells me Lewis won’t get a penalty. It’s not the first time he’s been called out on the radio for impeding by other drivers. I’m surprised they’re even looking at it. I think it was KMag (of all people) who said Lewis is the worst offender in blocking. Besides, I feel even if Kimi was asked, he’d just shrug and say it didn’t affect him at the end of the day.
After Vettel in canada and Sainz on Albon in Q3 when Albon made it into Q3 (I don't remember where that was, thinking France). I don't think they have a choice.

That’s interesting... Seidl isn’t an aerodynamicist, so I wouldn’t expect him to have much input in that side of the car development... If anything, Key may have more input on that.

Agreed. If true, doesn't speak too highly of Peter Prod & Co.
It's impossible. Managers don't do engineering work.

norris q3 lap - mclaren is not great, not terrible in high speed sections. They got beat by magnussen in q3 because he was like 20 kmh faster in T7, which is a lot

Seems Lando is 5th?

FIA twisting the rules? I thought KMag got his penalty first, dropping to 10th, Lando gets promoted to 5th, then Hamilton’s penalty moves him to 4th...

No, he starts P4. Kmag (Originally P5) penalises and so does Hamilton (Originally P2)

Yes, the way the penalties are applied, means he will start fifth. That is because the empty grid slots don't get filled until all the penalties are applied. So Magnussen gets his penalty, fifth becomes empty, Magnussen therefore takes eleventh, and everyone behind him "loses" one spot. Then Lewis's penalty is applied, he takes fifth and now second place is empty, Lando is still 6th at this point. After that all cars from third and behind get one position so the empty place at second is filled. So Lando goes from sixth to fifth.

Anyway, I think it's for the better. Lando will start on the clean side of the road and Lewis was going to overtake him anyway, so why bother with it.

Didn’t realized that’s the way penalties were applied (even team members thought he was starting 4th... Actually, even the F1 site posted it).

But, regardless it’s a great starting position

Confusing...

This is from F1.com https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/arti ... NKWWi.html

First:

"Once the stewards had carried out their investigation post-session, Hamilton was duly handed a three-place grid drop and one-penalty point on his FIA Super Licence – though because of the way in which penalties are applied in sequence, he only drops from P2 to P4.

Then at the end:

News of Hamilton’s penalty will be particularly welcome for his former team McLaren, meanwhile, with Lando Norris now promoted to fourth on the grid – his highest ever starting position in F1 – thanks to both the penalty for Hamilton and a five-place grid drop for Haas’ Kevin Magnussen for a change of gearbox.

Here is the provisional starting grid. It's pretty much confirmed Lando will start fifth tomorrow.

And not have a Merc elbowing past. Some fights you know you are not going to win, so better stay out of them.

Better all round (except for the kudos

I know this isn’t nice, but which 2 drivers would you guys not mind seeing take each other out to give Lando a chance at an unlikely podium?

Sainz p20, not p19

Did Lando do Q2 on medium or soft tyres? Want to know what tyre he is starting on.
