Because MS run refuelling period, he should have much more poles than LH has right now, imho.
14th. LH has a much higher W percentage than MS, give it 70 more races and we'll see where things wind up. Depending on what happens in the first couple of laps and where the temperature winds up, I think it's anyone's race from the top 4 spots.
They lost 6 tenths in qualifying to Ferrari (a good chunk of that on the straights) due to having to run more conservative PU modes than usual (due to the heat, as you suggested).yelistener wrote: ↑30 Jun 2019, 04:45Somehow Mercedes' laptime slower than 2018. Other than having a more draggy car in 2019, hot temp must've hit them harder than other teams.

Mercedes' engine not running full power in quali? Do you have source for that?zibby43 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2019, 05:14They lost 6 tenths in qualifying to Ferrari (a good chunk of that on the straights) due to having to run more conservative PU modes than usual (due to the heat, as you suggested).yelistener wrote: ↑30 Jun 2019, 04:45Somehow Mercedes' laptime slower than 2018. Wolff said that Austria, due to the altitude and heat, along with Mexico last year, have been two of Merc's weakest tracks.
They were strong, with pace in hand in FP3, then they just never really turned up the wick despite Hamilton putting in a pretty decent lap in Q3.
Edit: Props to the Ferrari PU and cooling architecture; it served LEC well in qualifying.
Yes, I've seen it 2 places. This was the first (I mentioned it a few pages back)yelistener wrote: ↑30 Jun 2019, 06:27Mercedes' engine not running full power in quali? MSc hurt his win percentage by returning for a second stint - it reduced from 36% down to 29%. LH only keeps increasing his win % during his Merc stint.
Comparing drivers from different eras is a futile exercise. Anyone who dominated the sport in his time, is bound to achieve greatness. Numbers are all influenced by changing circumstances, in the changing times.spin1/2 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2019, 08:24MSc hurt his win percentage by returning for a second stint - it reduced from 36% down to 29%. For him to get 4th he is going to have to pass at least 1 of Hamilton, Bottas, LeClerc or...........Verstappen.
If the RedBull wasn't built like a tank for that race, it was his race craft that should have cost him the title. At least 1 car retired after contact with Vettel, after Vettel chopped someone at the apex of T4. After that he did a stellar job, but that moment should have cost him the title.
