The lap is very short.
Talent?
im sure it was the track. just like every year that mercedes has dominated, there are one or 2 races in which they struggle. redbull may give ferrari some problems (although gasley isnt helping that) but mercedes are going to walk on everybody in most of the races, unfortunately.TNTHead wrote: ↑30 Jun 2019, 22:14What a surprising outcome. Who would have said after the last merc dominated races that RB would break that dominance?!
At last we had a good show! Really wondering if RB is from now on 'in the mix' or that high altitude/high temp/high Honda power modes contributed to a one day fly.
You mean squeezed out of road. Which is illegal, and a clear cut penalty. Observe how I didn't even mention the contact.
The "leave a car's width" thing is when a driver moves across to defend and then moves back across the track again to retake the racing line. At that point he must leave room. This rule doesn't apply here.jz11 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2019, 21:59it used to be simple - if there is a car beside you, you have to leave cars width of space till the while line, you can't just ignore that someone is next to you and push the other one off the track, inside, outside, entry, apex, exit, doesn't matter, the other guy is beside you, you account for that
True, but it might also be that the last RB and Honda updates narrowed the gap to merc quite a bit. Then we'll see more battles at the front, and it isn't an easy walk over for merc anymore. Just hoping...zoroastar wrote: ↑30 Jun 2019, 22:21im sure it was the track. just like every year that mercedes has dominated, there are one or 2 races in which they struggle. redbull may give ferrari some problems (although gasley isnt helping that) but mercedes are going to walk on everybody in most of the races, unfortunately.TNTHead wrote: ↑30 Jun 2019, 22:14What a surprising outcome. I think its BS that they didn't penalise him. Basically they've told everyone "take the inside and drive your competitors off the road".Just_a_fan wrote: ↑30 Jun 2019, 22:25The "leave a car's width" thing is when a driver moves across to defend and then moves back across the track again to retake the racing line. lol, I hadn't noticed, but yes at Mercedes the bad days just aren't as bad are they. Tho still generally it's been encouraging for the rest of the season, enough power from the Honda and enough corner speed from everyone, depending how much we take off for the Mercedes' coolingJust_a_fan wrote: ↑30 Jun 2019, 22:28Interesting/worrying (depending on your view) is that Mercedes only lost 5 points to Ferrari and lost no points to RedBull in the WCC, even though they were struggling for the entire race.
this certainly will make few next race starts much more exciting, especially with Max in there, now that he can do basically whatever he likes, as long as he has the inside lineJust_a_fan wrote: ↑30 Jun 2019, 22:25The "leave a car's width" thing is when a driver moves across to defend and then moves back across the track again to retake the racing line. Yeah I guess overtaking around the outside is no longer a thing now then.
