The Merc was obviously faster today. He could stay in the dirty air with easeringo wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 16:56Is it really? didn't you see the race unfolding?
Hamilton had max's ticket, and this allowed mercedes to pull off that pitstop. Their concern was reliability concerning their brake wear and temps and this is mostly why Lewis was pitted. Max would have lost either way as Lewis tyres were 6 laps younger.
Hamilton has a way of chasing down drivers when he is behind. We usually get cruises to the end with other drivers following leaders. I was hoping Max could have held on as he drove very well but it wasn't enough; even with the fastest car this weekend.
I agree. Very very few could have done what Ham did today. It was sublime race by the driver/team. Just wow.ringo wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 17:11
I guess i am a troll for observing what's happening on track and posting data rather than emotions.
Tell me where mercedes was dominant. Look on Bottas. And don't say Bottas is crap as that's not proper support for that point.
Hungary is historically a strong track for Redbull cars. Today the cars were equal and Hamilton decisively used is opening laps on the hard tyres to close down the gap and start the pressure cooker. Let's not assume these drivers are equal in terms of experience and ability. Based on Max's radio he was seeking answers from his pitwall, while Lewis was dictating how to pace the car.
Nobody out drives a car, other than Maldonado. No one on the planet can do more than what the car can do. Basic science.Zarathustra wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 17:24Verstappen outperformed that Red Bull so hard yesterday during qualify..

Why do you think ‘the whole world’ went over the moon by it?!
I don’t know how about you- but I am enjoying these battles between Hamilton and Verstappen.
It’s good for the sport;
but let’s not call each other ‘fags’.. between Verstappen and Hamilton, it is Verstappen who is outperforming the car.
Indeed. It’s like those people who say ‘110%’GPR -A wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 17:27Nobody out drives a car, other than Maldonado. No one on the planet can do more than what the car can do. Sure- that’s why some drivers can still be quick with a damaged car and others can’t.GPR -A wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 17:27Nobody out drives a car, other than Maldonado. TBH Mercedes were only able to pit Lewis again because Leclerc was so far behind. Had the Ferrari had the same pace Lewis and Max would had to keep fighting it out.Phil wrote:Personally, I don't know what RedBull would/should have done. Red Bull without Max nowhere they could've won 2 races and being on the podium..Restomaniac wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 17:02That becomes more apparent with every race but RedBull seem unwilling to anything about it. It’s probably going to cost them 2nd in the WCC which makes it even more confusing.
Maybe because they are better drivers?Zarathustra wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 17:30Sure- that’s why some drivers can still be quick with a damaged car and others can’t.GPR -A wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 17:27Nobody out drives a car, other than Maldonado. Sounds like Verstappen needs a better teammate.ubuysa wrote:TBH Mercedes were only able to pit Lewis again because Leclerc was so far behind. Outstanding drive from both Lewis and Max. Happy to see no sign of red mist in Max as Lewis passed him. He's maturing nicely.
More please!

Euhm no, his racecraft failed to get him past Max again as he admitted on the radio (what else can we do) in a car that is clearly still the best of the field. He needed a superb strategy call from the team and then admittedly very good racepace fully unlocking the W10, to finally pass him with DRS on far better tyres.El Scorchio wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 17:11Today, Hamilton made the difference. Stayed with Verstappen throughout to force the strategy call., the two key moments were the superb laps after the first stop, where on any other track he'd probably have got past there and then, and the run to the end from the second stop.
Both drivers outperformed their cars and team mates today, and frankly the cars were pretty evenly matched on this circuit. Today Hamilton's racecraft and a clever call from the team made the difference.
