Merc have history of running new spec engine to near max mode to validate performance on FP1. So its a safe bet that Merc will be atleast a secomd ahead of anyone.

Albert Fabrega mention today the Spec 4 is bringing 20 HP more. Assuming the data is correct, it is interesting if this 20HP are for Honda improvements alone or is including the Exxon Mobil new fuels and lubricants.Bill wrote: ↑29 Aug 2019, 15:01Max is racing for win that's why Honda didn't change pu ,pu upgrades don't make big difference we are not in 2014. Ferrari still can't match the fuel efficiency of Honda and Mercedes they were demolished in Hungary as for merc their package is high drag so I think Max a high chance of winning.
Honda ran their new PU ultra conservative in france, prompting even verstappen to say to the media he had to say to honda something along the lines of "we're not gonna really drive around like this for the entire season, are we?".
(Red Bull)Honda seemed to be dealing with some heat related issues in France, which they later fixed.
Which is prolly why they have new engines in back of Kvyat and Albon, perfect way to explore the limits before installing it on Max's car.Juzh wrote: ↑29 Aug 2019, 21:07Honda ran their new PU ultra conservative in france, prompting even verstappen to say to the media he had to say to honda something along the lines of "we're not gonna really drive around like this for the entire season, are we?".
I guess that's what he meant.
