It's almost 11AM and I took a little walk outside my quarters here in Suzuka and the rain and wind is definitely picking up. Bullet trains stopped running and Mie prefecture will get hammered. They are talking bout 900 mm of rain from Typhoon 19. Supposed to clear out by 3 AM Sunday.

Ispano-san was spot on about Ferrari exhaust fumes. I thought who is starting a wood campfire in the Ferrari's pits haha
Well, stay safe and dry next few hrs !

The other problem is cloud cover. We’ve had problems before in Japan where the helicopter couldn’t take off due to low cloud and poor visibility.

Wood campfire is the perfect description. The Mercedes works team car smelled like an electrical fire/wire burning.

Almost 1 meter of rain in a day?
There's something lost in the translation or message there.

Awesome map showing the typhoon, wind and rain. Thanks for this link.
Appears like the typhoon is now east of the circuit (Nagoya), and the rain is decreasing.
It was the right decision to cancel Sat events. The typhoon appears to be far gone by Sunday.

March is cold and it could snow in Suzuka.
April, May and November are probably the most suitable months for the races in Japan.
Hopefully FIA will seriously consider changing the Japanese GP date for 2020 season.

Nothing lost in translation. It's about 7 PM here and some regions have received over 780 mm of rain already. Mass flooding and at least one death as a result of this typhoon.
I rode around the circuit today and have never seen this much water here in over 40 years. Just unbelievable. Ran into Takuma Sato and joked that you couldn't even run an Indycar here today with their much superior rain tires.

Sorry didnt check my figures , but it seems the race is always kept in October and also cancelled before in 2004
I thought before the nightraces came in it was on a different date , but i guess only with that they started later in the day ?
