No offense Albon wasn't fighting with the top guys he setting in his usual customary position p6 p5 because of Charles penalty, only when a safety car and fresh tires did he show his presence.Gasly has been on fire all weekend starting on the same row with a Redbull.
2020 will show you're wrong. But well, as always, keep dreaming with your theories and conspiracy. Today Albon hav shown he deserves that seat. Overtaking Vettel, and after that, defending vs a Ferrari without DRS. You can't say the same with Gasly. (see Silverstone)
So people are still using Silverstone as example... when Silverstone proves the opposite??? Race where Max couldnt overtake Charles, but Gasly did overtake Vettel with a great move and was pulling away, catching up to Max and Charles, only for team to screw him over and pit him that same lap, even though he was on Medium tyres and could have gone at least 10 more laps easily, in futile and retarded attempt to force Ferrari's hand... and it was retarded because they pit so way too early, Ferrari didnt even need to react to it and Gasly came out on hard tyres behind midfield cars on, still fresh, mediums and had trouble clearing them on terrible hard tyres. And then at the end of the race he had by far the oldest tyres(Hamilton had 30 lap old tyres running in clean air and Mercedes were panicking and wanted to pit him, yet Gasly had 39 old tyres running in dirty air!!) and had no pace whatsoever.
Hell, Vettel on softs went for another 10 laps after Gasly has pit on mediums!! If they let him catch up to Max and Charles more and then pit him, then Ferrari would have to react, because they risk Gasly undercutting Charles while Max is still behind him pressuring, or other way around, and RB would have had win-win situation, because undercut then would be clear of midfield and no one would be stuck there destroying their tyres that were supposed to last 80% of race.
Its like saying that Max is bad because he lost in Hungary with his dead tyres... well, he should have just been faster, right?
So yes, Silverstone Gasly was great, and was screwed by team in boneheaded attempt to help Max. Im sure even Ferrari engineers were confused by that lap 13 pit stop while on mediums and finally in clear air after Gasly overtook Vettel, and not enough gap between them and midfield cars for pit stop.
