Red Bull RB16 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I'm expecting them to be right up there next year, anyway. Everybody will have improved, fixed this year's issues, and it's going to be close. Max and Charles will be more consistent, i won't be surprised if they and Lewis win 6 races each...
Who wins the other 4? Bottas and Vettel?
yes, well if Lewis wins 8 (my hope!!) it'll also be true he won 6 won't it :) , so who knows, or Max could win 10, he's probably the one who's least likely to lose wins to his teammate. At this point i'm thinking all the cars will have nice biting front ends, that'll suit the top guns, but Seb is still very quick. Anyway it could easily be the best F1 season ever: power will be similar, they should be reliable, they'll all have lots of load for the tyres, there are 3 of the greatest teams and drivers in history, nobody can really guess who'll come out on top, but whoever does will have achieved something

Thanks for this information. Can this program be seen somewhere? Maybe on YT?
Can you name a few more things that have been discussed? Everything is welcome.
.
I haven't seen it from the beginning. Maybe I'll review the other day and keep you posted,
if there is anything needed to be mentioned.

It can be reviewed here, but maybe it's geolocked, here in Austria it's working fine:
https://www.servus.com/tv/videos/aa-1x3bb5km11w12/
I really appreciate it if you would like to do that @ Lio007.
I checked on this site last night right after your message, but there is indeed a geo block on it.
I don't think it's necessary any more :)
In the reports from the last 2 days more or less everything can be read.

Edit: typo

Just read in a verstappen-forum: they (apparently) have already passed the chassis- and FW-crashtests.

Do you suppose then they stick with the current wheelbase? Because they'd have to crash test a new crash structure if they indeed lengthened the car. Either that or they shifted focus early.

I don't if it's worth it...AFAIK wheelbase will be shortened from 2021, but I have to admit I don't know what the max allowed wheelbase will be.
It was mentioned there (in the forum) they may change their rake concept.

I wonder if the RB16 features a floor-quickfix-system for preseason testing.
As soon as the floor is off, they are allowed to use screens in front of the garage.

When did a top team ever reuse a tub in recent years though? I don't think that happens. Force India apperently planned for it at one point, but couldn't because of a change in regulations. Not that they were a top team anyway.

I think teams have way too many optimizations that they want to implement. They will spend the money. For teams in trouble, like Haas and Williams, a new tub might mean a total redesign, but for many other teams it might just be continues development and a set of smaller and lower risk design improvements. Ultimately it might not even be particularly expensive.

Redbull car of 2018 was a good car from race 1 problems with Redbull is when they is a new regulations except for 2009
The problem with the 2018 car was that the french engine went kaboom so many times that Red Bull were pulling bolts from the ground to put an PU together to start races. The Honda in 2019 was reliable with the PU penalties that were taken for development rather then reliability reasons. Still the Mercedes seems to be able to stretch it's legs when it needs to before taking it easy when the point lead became insurmountable.

Announced by Motorsport Magazine, but RBR hasn't announced anything yet.
However, that does not mean that it is not correct.

3 weeks ago you wrote that you did read on some forum RBR having passed the crash tests.

Are you being sarcastic now or are these more serious news you got?

I know, a bit contradicting myself 8)
But I might have been wrong, so just ignore that post.
That's the problem with whispers and rumours at this point of time.
Sorry for that.
