I think Mercedes will be using RP as an extra resource for testing, especially with 2021 coming up.

The agreement could be RP get an amazing car and in exchange, they get out of the way on the track and are used as a testbed. Which let's be fair, would be a really good deal for RP and Mercedes so it's win/win.

Yeah, but given the STR - eh, AT, not sure Red Bull can be too loud, there are differences in that it is further developed than last years BRB car, but there's a lot of carry over isn't there? and Ferrari might have to contend with explaining some things about Haas too (their car does look like a half-copy of the 2019 Ferrari just a bit, right); so, Alfa and Williams, McLaren and Renault left to complain then.

Racing point did use the 2019 Merc. suspension and gearbox - see AMuS article about their car (today I think), but that article also mentions they did not just copy, they had to understand the concept, which reads to me as they got to see Merc.'s homework and ponder it.
They do look very suspiciously similar. There is no way a team would openly copy another team's concept, and car like that unless they knew a lot about it or had seen something. Otherwise, you just end up with a mess you don't understand and are chasing all year.

It's an interesting political move if Merc have given them more than a helping hand behind closed doors.

It’s very interesting.

Mercedes have openly admitted they have pretty much dumped last years concept due to changes everywhere. If have just given it to RP I can’t imagine McLaren will be overly happy.

They will be getting a Mercedes engine next year, so I'm sure won't be complaining too hard and upsetting any future relationships.

F1 is a business and RP potentially just got ahead of Mclaren due to a business move. Which is fair in my opinion.

It's fair, but you can understand why grudges will be held from a sporting POV.

This season is done. Merc quite far ahead and RBR is distant second. Ferrari is almost a no show. Alpha, Alfa, Haas and Renault are all pissed off with the Mercedes W10 in the Pink. Good show from Williams and McLaren so far.

He did a 1.20.1 on last years opening day. Ferrari is actually a few tenths slower then 12 months ago (Mercedes both times on C2’s and Ferrari on both occasions on the softer C3).

Ferrari and RBR to introduce a B-spec car next week. We're not even close to being done.
