Could they be sandbagging in S3? 🤔🤷‍♂️
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

I think not, as they should be hard at work to fix their slow corner speed and traction not the other way around

Would worry about S3 just yet, they're mainly doing setup work at the moment so the front tyres aren't really up to temp because they're not pushing, and there's more parts going on the car yet, maybe tommorow you might get something a bit more telling.

well, let see if by the end of today they are not up to par in S3 then im worrying because there is no reason they should not be testing for this kind of stuff after the first 3 days of testing and now after the first second test.
They should be unlocking performance as reliability and aero valuations were done on the first 3 tests.
i do see them alright for the first 2, but the last sector is very slow, even if they are doing long runs and etc

Like you just said, from AS

McLaren starts deployment

They tested a new diffuser and there will be more aerodynamic developments during the week, because no engine progress is expected.
Early morning, pleasant temperature, talks about the coronavirus in the 'paddock' and tests and more tests on the asphalt. The second and final week of the pre-season test began in Barcelona and in McLaren's garage, the deployment of new products also began. Last week a new front wing was released that slightly refined its predecessor and this Wednesday, after a few minutes hidden behind the screen (the FIA will review it and it can fall fine if there has not been a reliability problem before), they mounted a new diffuser with which they hope to generate more aerodynamic load.
There will be news in almost all areas from now on because the car of the first week was intended to make kilometers, but the current one will serve to optimize the settings and go for benefits. The great progress of winter will be in the chassis because, as this medium already explained , the Renault engine barely brings progress beyond reliability and there will be no significant changes during the season. So Carlos Sainz spent the morning testing and testing, with hard tires and without looking for fast laps, which will come later. The Madrid will get on the MCL35 again on Friday to close the preseason, from now on it's Lando Norris's turn.

#AMuS McLaren Technical Director James Key has so far drawn a positive balance. The new MCL35 meets expectations. "The feedback from the drivers is within what we expected. We haven't focused on fast laps or setup work yet."

Lets hope so, however they do need to test it at some point... it wold be crazy to go into the first race and have no ideia how the car performs in a qualy like or low fuel setup with soft tires. ( im not saying the c5 but at least the C4 tire )

Not expecting any performance runs today. It'll all be about evaluating the whole car with the new diffuser. McLaren are being very thorough when it comes to aero mapping, doing a full assessment as each new part is added to the car. If correlation is as good as they're reporting then it bodes well for the season. They can develop the car far more quickly in CFD simulations, knowing the results will work on the car. Each driver still has a full day left after today, then we'll see some setup and performance runs in between testing even more new parts we've yet to see. I'm actually quietly confident, the long runs have been decent with the incomplete car.

So what james and the team are expecting being near the front runners or just 4 as last year or kicking mercedes ass !!!

I don't see why they can't make another big leap.

Still have the 4th most laps of the day from the 10 teams (at time of writing). Quite a lot considering all the aero rake work they've been doing.

They haven't pushed yet. That remains to be seen.
