Racing Point RP20

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Very intelligent engineering! =D>. Saving a shed load of man-hours and computation time by doing this. Saving money too! Smart!
That s not engineering at all. But very efficient business managing tough. A car made by the Sales department
It has been confirmed by Otmar the aero parts were reverse engineered not bought. So sales has nothing to do with it.
sales the blueprint of the bodywork is against the rules.. and noone will ever trust they reverse engineered from photos, while all the aerodinamics say is not possible.

Someones memory stick must have fallen into the box of parts delivered.

They are even copying the upgrades! My my.
It's a thought process that they are in so naturally the development would carry a similar line of thinking.

(I wonder if it's a special package where they lol also get the updates that came during the season last year.)

Great minds think alike.

Yeah, one points at the fronts, one at the rears. Think Stroll was only running one though.

that diagonal damper more akin to what red bull racing have been using rather than the m-amg system. bt the way, are the wheelbase the same between the W10 and RP20?

laser scanners exist, I expect that provided the initial spec.
the real question is although you can copy the shape, you don't know the material properties which does make a difference (different carbon fibre blends, etc.)

Indeed, the difficulty is that it is not just shape, but also deflection of wings under load, suspension behaviour etc. that all interact. You cannot copy aeroelasticity with a laser scanner. The fact that they achieve the same performance as last year Mercedes is.... stunning?

Perez made a statement, "The low speed and medium speed are the weaknesses in our car... but in high speed, it’s been relatively strong"; I thought its other way round.
Sky was showing some graphics during P2 last week where Perez was ranked 16th on High-speed corners.
