Racefans is reporting a little bit more detail:
One option which is being actively pursued is starting the season with a series of races held with minimal staff at otherwise empty circuits. Teams would be required to limit the number of staff in attendance, all would have to be tested for the Covid-19 coronavirus prior to arrival, and teams would be segregated from each other at the circuit as far as possible.

The spacious modern paddocks at the Red Bull Ring and Silverstone, which have been tipped to hold multiple races when the championship begins, would make it easier for teams to observe social distancing practices.
https://www.racefans.net/2020/04/23/tea ... sed-doors/

so i'm thinking there will be some kind of season, even if it's not ideal. Fenced tracks with spacious paddocks, especially if there isn't a lot of flying or if there's an airport nearby, and local health authorities who are up for it. Possibly Bahrain and Abu Dhabi could come back into it? France.

Thinking out loud here: could circuits with multiple pit facilities be helpful in maintaining separation of personnel? Some circuits (Silverstone and Spa come to mind immediately and I guess many others will too) have main and junior paddocks to allow for support races. At Silverstone, there is the old paddock on Woodcote-Copse straight, at Spa there is a paddock on the run down to Eau Rouge with the pit lane exiting on the Kemmel Straight. Both would allow for some teams to be placed elsewhere so empty garages could be maintained between teams.

Some sort of random draw would be needed to ensure fairness, and careful control to ensure both pit lane entry and exit lanes are respected.

But it would give an option if closeness of teams is to be avoided. Anyway, just a thought really.

I think, when we go racing, we only go racing for F1. The F2 and F3 guys can stay at home. Id like to keep the paddock to just the teams there, keeping the trucks behind each garage, as for Red Bull/Alpha Tauri, no sharing of facilities. Id also as far as to have the teams and suppliers operate from one hotel each. Little cross contamination that way as well. The media would do their press conference virtually for the print media, as for the broadcast media, they wouldn't have access to the paddock or grid, they would operate from studios either at home or at the venue. When the F1 circus goes to a new track in a new country it follows a 2 week quarantine.

As for a calendar, tracks that can host multiple events with even multiple layouts would be preferable. Im thinking this:

3 DAY PRE SEASON TEST: Red Bull Ring
1) Austria - Red Bull Ring

2) Great Britain - Silverstone (International)
3) United Kingdom - Silverstone (Bridge Layout)
--- 4 week break ----
4) Germany - Hockenheim

5) Italy - Imola
6) Italy - Monza
---- 4 week break ----
7) Bahrain - Sakhir (Endurance)
8) Bahrain - Sakhir (Grand Prix)

9) Abu Dhabi - Yas Marina

Each leg would see the guys away from their families for around 5 weeks. That would make the season about 15-16 weeks long. Season starting on August 1st, with the pre season test happening just days earlier. The double headers could be on the same weekend, even having a 4 day weekend with and extra Free Practice so there's 2 FP Sessions on each different layout. Id also outright ban teams using their mission controls at home for social distancing.

Presumably at 3 you mean the National Circuit, that's the northern loop of the track, the International being the southern loop. Bridge hasn't been in use since the new infield loop was introduced in 2011 - it's fenced off at Abbey.

If they use the National circuit, better to run the "long" version which takes in Becketts and would be more challenging than the standard National.

I'd rather just use the full GP circuit, however. It's a complete test of the car requiring good top speed, good downforce and good traction.

Re: Possible date to Grand prix Spanish 2020

Nothing is official at this time...so only conjecture is possible at the moment. Additionally, if it ever is rescheduled, it may be with no spectators. Lastly, just because a race gets scheduled by F1/FIA...there is no guarantee the host Country will permit it.

At this point...2021 may not be a bad bet. Please note that even 2021 is not a sure bet, as they only had a 1-year contract.

Bridge layout is the layout used prior to the arena layout.

At Abby (turn 1) you take the left instead of right. Go under the bridge and then join at the

Dont think so; the gravel traps, fencing and signalling were removed at Bridge and Brooklands corner.

It would be interesting to run two races consecutively on the same track, especially one as all-round demanding as Silverstone. How similar would the results be?

As I said above, that layout isn't used anymore - it's fenced off. It's been fenced off for 9 years.

Can you get a refund? Insurance payout? It is looking unlikely there will be a Spanish grand prix this year.

BTW, we already have a thread discussing this, no need to create another one.

Are you talking about the Paul Ricard circuit? The circuit themselves say otherwise if you look at their site and what they list as tracks available.

Enough opportunities
They say themselves that they have 3 major layouts and two of those are teaching circuits.

Really, are you going to repeat this like you did the "ground effect" stuff?

Hi everybody

In your opinion, what is the best probability he new date of grand prix spanish?
I bought tickets to race and the aerline tickets.. my fly company need re-schedule to new date, but the official F1 don't say me what the new date or possible date.
Regarding this post (I just merged into this thread):
The Spanish government pretty much told the soccer federation that there will be no games with spectators for a while, possibly until there is a vaccine, which they expect to affect most of next season as well!
So, if there is a race in Barcelona in 2010, it will be almost certainly be without spectators, no matter the date.
You just don't mess with soccer in Spain, and yet they do it. F1 won't get a better treatment.

Guys, I have removed a post containing medical advice. Also all responses to it.
The guy in that video might be right or wrong, but for any one advice, there are hundreds other people that would like to post different advice, and then others could counter that advice...

We are not going to filter which medical advice to check if it is sound or not sound, safe or not. The doctors worldwide are scrambling to make sense of treatment options. Let's let them do that. The guy in that video was, honestly, speculating, but that is not the important point.

It is OK to discuss what the situation looks like, or what countries are doing.
But any posts saying "take this" or "don't take this" will be removed. I hope you understand that this is still an F1 forum and that reality checking medical advice is simply impossible unless we travel to the future.
