No team is holy for a top driver if it doesn't have a winning car. Even Lewis desperately wanted to jump in a Red Bull when they were dominating and didn't consider Mercedes as the first option. It's a good coincidence for him to have landed in Mercedes. Ferrari would never be an option for him for the same reason.adrianjordan wrote: ↑07 May 2020, 00:24I've seen a few places reported Eddie Jordan up to his usual wild predictions...
This time that Lewis and Seb will swap seats....
....despite Lewis being very clear that he's not looking to move teams!!
Eddie's logic? That every driver dreams of driving for Ferrari. Well, I wouldn't if I was an F1 driver
His hero was planned and had a verbal agreement to go to Ferrari if he didn't die in the Imola accidentJust_a_fan wrote: ↑08 May 2020, 08:24Lewis will have watched Ferrari throw away title chances in several years during his career. He'll think "why go there and get messed around?". Simple, really.
Also, his hero was Senna. Senna never drove for Ferrari.

"But he wanted to come [in] '94. And '94 we had two drivers with contracts, Alesi and Berger.
"I said 'we have two drivers'. He said: 'But in Formula 1, contracts is not important'. And I said to him 'for me, contracts is important'."
Senna parted ways with Mclaren because of the lousy Ford engines after being succesfull with Honda.Luca Di Montezemolo wrote: “He came to my house in Bologna before the Imola accident," Di Montezemolo told Sky Italia. On the contrary, wouldn't it be the cherry on top if Lewis goes to Ferrari and does what neither Alonso nor Vettel could?GPR-A wrote: ↑08 May 2020, 11:19Some people here, who hate Ferrari, are happy to create some stories, which in fact is a desperate hope to NOT see Lewis going to Ferrari. Otherwise, it would be such a difficult proposition in their life to then support Lewis and Ferrari!
Well the silver lining for them is, Lewis is at the end of his career and is sitting in the best team with a championship winning car. Shouldn't that be enough to console oneself and not invent useless theories?
Senna didn't want to go to Ferrari(he wanted to challenge for championships), he was too smart for that, he only used them as a bargaining tool to drive up his price against McLaren(same as he did with Penske/Indycar). Hamilton would be a fool to join Ferrari unless Merc are pulling out. Ferrari are not a championship level team right now and Corona coupled with the budget cuts will only make things worse. Ferrari themselves need to recognize the large talent of LEC, invest in a good #2, focus on the new regs and get rid of vettel, until then they will continue being a non championship level team.Manoah2u wrote: ↑08 May 2020, 09:24His hero was planned and had a verbal agreement to go to Ferrari if he didn't die in the Imola accidentJust_a_fan wrote: ↑08 May 2020, 08:24Lewis will have watched Ferrari throw away title chances in several years during his career. It's because Senna died that they went for Schumacher.

He then greatly desired to drive for Ferrari as of 1993, but they were shut tight.
Senna then went to sign with Williams for 1994, arguably the worst decision ever.
The weekend before Imola he already knew very well Williams was not fit for him,
so he greatly desired to leave, and spoke with Luca Di Montezemolo, possibly trying to eveb retcon
Jean Todt to aquire the seat. They (Luca and Ayrton) were supposed to talk officially (read: sign) after
the Imola GP, as they had to focus on that GP. Unfortunately that came too late.
In other words, had Todt signed Senna for 1994 @ Ferrari, it's possible we still had Senna.
It would also mean Schumacher never had a chance @ Ferrari, and arguably we would have seen a
stellar fight between Senna @ Ferrari, and Schumacher @ either still Benetton or perhaps even Mclaren,
or Williams from the 1996 or 1997 season onwards.
I know that never actually happened, but it would be short-sighted to think Hamilton won't drive for Ferrari since Senna never did. Senna was his greatest hero, and wanted to go to Ferrari, so it's actually more logical to believe he'll be adamant to go to Ferrari at one stage.
If Hamilton manages to win the 2020 title, he'll have Schumacher's title amount. On one side it'll be harder than a full season, on another side it'll be easier.
He's gonna stay with Mercedes for 2021 without a single doubt anyway, so he'll even be able to grab his 8th title and surpass Schumacher with Mercedes, which would set him all sorts of permanent legend anyway, and not unlike other former Mercedes 'legends'.
In 2022, a new F1 era will start. It could be the ultimate start for Hamilton to go to Ferrari, and work on putting the ultimate crown on his achievements, a title with Ferrari. Even if it's just one. Since all of his wins and titles were with Mercedes power, i think a win to start with in a Ferrari would be just as sweet and rewarding as a title with Mercedes right now. Imagine being the first driver since Raikkonen to get Ferrari a new title, especially if LeClerc nor Vettel (after Alonso nor Massa couldn't either) will manage to do so. And, it would give him a place to happily grow into F1 retirement, knowing he got where his hero never ended up.
I still can see it happen very very well, and quite frankly, i'd still be a bit surprised if he doesn't.
that would be the biggest hurdle. cough cough. So I would buy some HAM's as the kids buy his Monster brew.Jolle wrote: ↑08 May 2020, 17:11of course, anything is possible... but I only see Hamilton leave Mercedes for Ferrari if Daimler pulls out of F1. He's been with Mercedes since he was 13 and I think he's got the ambition to stay connected to Mercedes even after his F1 career. Plus, Philip Morris could be a problem with his healthy lifestyle image.
Hamilton will never be yesterday's news while he's winning and, I'm sorry, there's no way that Vettel beats Hamilton in the same car. Maybe a few years ago he would have been able to do what Button and Rosberg did, but I don't think the Vettel we see these days has the same hunger.PlatinumZealot wrote: ↑08 May 2020, 22:09When Lewis was at McLaren, I thought he was going to stay with them for life, but look how things turned out. Not going to happen. Mercedes won't want the hassle of Vettel.PlatinumZealot wrote: ↑08 May 2020, 22:09maybe Vettel joins and he is loved to bed by the German board, and Hamilton is yesterdays news. Anything is possible.
I do not know if he would have moved had Dennis still been Mclaren principle. He seems to have this loyalty thing.PlatinumZealot wrote: ↑08 May 2020, 22:09When Lewis was at McLaren, I thought he was going to stay with them for life, but look how things turned out.
