Hamilton still has effrontery to saying that "it was so hard to win" cause Bottas was pushing. Such a cheek. If anything was real hard for him - it was last lap, obviously why. He is repeating every week that "it was so hard" for no reason. Do you remember whether Schumacher in 2004 was saying that he was in any trouble? O_O
Still banging the "Mercedes favour Hamilton" drum?

All the years of Hamilton saying his tires were out and putting in fastest laps helped him out when they actually we're and that helped make the unlucky call from Redbull. Hahahaha.
I think he says that sort of thing for the same reason Toto always says they are scared of Ferrari or whatever.

Nope, I have nothing more to say about that. Hamilton finished 1st, Bottas 11th... 30 point between them now... everything is going in one, right way.

I just hate Lewis behavior that I pointed above.

Just watching it again. Merc had (in F1 terms) AGES to call Hamilton in.
Plus the mechanics were all ready from when Bottas had just stopped.
What was the gap to Max at that point given that Lewis was backing off massively and Max had fresh softs? One slow pit stop and they lose the race so it was actually the right call because Lewis won.
34 seconds when Hamilton started the final lap. So it would have been absolutely fine barring a freak disaster of a stop.

You are correct that in retrospect it was a suitable if not ideal course of action, and there's always a slight risk at a pit stop, but if the race was only one corner longer then he doesn't win! They got very lucky as they must have known they were taking a huge risk with the tyre. Then again I expect if the race was one lap longer than it was, they'd have stopped him.

We could probably talk about ifs and buts all night though :)
With or without stopping he still wins the race

After today’s tyre failures will Pirelli stick with C2 C3 C4 for next weekend? Bit of a headache.
The teams know the tyres at this track now so perhaps won't run the harder tyres in FP and just keep them for the race. I could see FP being quiet with little running unless teams bring new bits that need testing.

Hulk Is just as effective as the car being parked waiting for Perez's.
It's a bold strategy, Cotton. And it looks like it paid off!

He has saved a race of wear and tear on that equipment and he's bought himself a weak of training and simulator time to make himself look better on track. :D

Perhaps it would have been safer. But a pit stop is a risk as well
Good point. Hamilton reported the tyres as being fine so why take the risk of all the things that can go wrong at a pitstop when it seemed fine out on track with only a few kilometres to go.

Anyone remember the "Mercedes will lap the entire field" projections?

If there is one guy who has lost numerous races while leading because of bad luck, it's Lewis. He is the same guy who lost a championship because of bad luck.

That was fun

2007 was lost because he couldn´t manage pressure and tried to prove himself on several situations where he didn´t need it. Not trying to blame him, as he was just a rookie and did awesome, probably best rookie season in F1 ever, but you can´t seriously ignore that and state he lost it because of bad luck

Really foolish of Mercedes not to box Lewis
They couldn't - Max would have stayed out, winning the race.
Horner saying that Max's tyres were cut and there was no guarantee that Max wouldn't have had a puncture if he'd stayed out.
I agree with that assessment, sure a win was possible, however no guarantee Verstappen's tires would have faired better, but fastest lap and 2nd place when the best we could have hoped for was 3rd is better than expected. The Mercs were able to pull away and manage the gap but they couldn't steam roll away. Either fuel or tires won't let them, which is good since next week it'll be even worse.

If Albon was close to Max then Rbr would have won it they could gamble with 1 car by staying on track and pit another

Weird, I always put it down to MCLaren team not calling a rookie into the pits when he had no tyres left. Something a team has never done before or after.
