The party mode also changes the timing of the ignition and injection and so on. I believe that the party mode just utilises the entire electric deployment available with no unnecessary harvesting leaving the battery depleted by the end of the lap,c coupled with max fuel flow and max revs.
Is there a reason the same changes can not be triggered at 13k RPM anyway and the driver told to stick to the normal 12.5 for normal driving? It is not a 'mode' as it would do that every time RPM hits 13k?toraabe wrote: ↑16 Aug 2020, 21:44The party mode also changes the timing of the ignition and injection and so on. what good would that be to anybody?Big Tea wrote: ↑16 Aug 2020, 22:08Is there a reason the same changes can not be triggered at 13k RPM anyway and the driver told to stick to the normal 12.5 for normal driving? What good is qualli mode? if it is the same it is the same.Mchamilton wrote: ↑16 Aug 2020, 22:48what good would that be to anybody?
the quali mode setting would of practically zero use if they were only available above 13k rpm, if thats what youre proposingBig Tea wrote: ↑16 Aug 2020, 22:58What good is qualli mode? if it is the same it is the same.

when did you last see an f1 car rev to 15k rpm though? i highly doubt they do any of their reliability testing etc based on any significant usage of such rpm.Big Tea wrote: ↑16 Aug 2020, 23:40Mchamilton wrote: ↑16 Aug 2020, 23:25the quali mode setting would of practically zero use if they were only available above 13k rpm, if thats what youre proposing
It would have 'party mode' equivalent up to 15k if needed without the driver having to switch anything. If it is not needed continue to change at 12.5.
A new ore in this came from Sam Collins in the Sky chat today. He recons the Merc is just too powerful for the tyres and is tearing them up. Did the suggestion of reducing modes come from them? They are not going to give away an advantage they can not use if someone else can use it. But if it is no good to them, stop anyone else getting it too
There is no advantage to doing so now due to max fuel flow. If it became the new 'qualli mode' there would be. There would be higher wear rates, but it would have to be accounted as party mode is now.Mchamilton wrote: ↑16 Aug 2020, 23:50when did you last see an f1 car rev to 15k rpm though? i highly doubt they do any of their reliability testing etc based on any significant usage of such rpm.Big Tea wrote: ↑16 Aug 2020, 23:40Mchamilton wrote: ↑16 Aug 2020, 23:25

These cars have not seen 15K on the tach for the entire duration of this terrible 6 cylinder turbo hybrid era.Mchamilton wrote: ↑16 Aug 2020, 23:50when did you last see an f1 car rev to 15k rpm though? i highly doubt they do any of their reliability testing etc based on any significant usage of such rpm.Big Tea wrote: ↑16 Aug 2020, 23:40Mchamilton wrote: ↑16 Aug 2020, 23:25

The fact of the matter is Mercedes has .7/.8 sec up to 1 full second or a bit more advantage on the entire field, depending on the track.Alexf1 wrote: ↑16 Aug 2020, 19:15Hoping for the 1 mode rule, now I'm looking at a Mercedes sprinting away as soon as anyone comes close while Toto keeps on downplaying their dominance. And the Mercedes saturday Q engine mode is clearly not within 3% of the other engine manufacturers so that should already have been dealt with long ago by the FIA.
