McLaren fear: Sainz could debut third engine at Monza------------
The problems in the engine of the Spanish could be irreparable.
Carlos Sainz's power unit could have said goodbye to its life cycle after just two races. The Spanish rider was unable to participate in the Belgian Grand Prix due to an engine failure when he was making his entry lap on the grid. White smoke began to rise from the back of the McLaren and the worst omens were feared in the garage.
After a quick analysis, Sainz's non-participation in Spa-Francorchamps was confirmed. Frustration seized the Madrid driver. Carlos was unable to race on his favorite circuit after Saturday's great qualifying session and pointed to a problem with one of the cylinders as the cause of the internal damage to the power unit.
"We believe that the mishap has been caused by a problem in the engine, I was going to say, well in a cylinder , but they won't let me say it, so I'm not happy," explained the McLaren driver as he got off the car to Movistar + F1.
"Very disappointing for Carlos. Power unit problem. We are afraid to wait to see what exactly happened. We have to look at the data and see what has been damaged. I don't want to say much. There is a high probability that the engine is dead already. see what it means for the end of the season " , Seidl concludes disappointed.
