The podium might be difficult to get, but I hope both cars finish the race and finish on high positions. It is important to take some points back from RP and Renault considering the bad couple of races the team has had lately with one car retiring.
I don’t see Carlos gaining a couple of places at the start this time round unfortunatelyBig Tea wrote: ↑06 Sep 2020, 13:29Although Lando has more point than Carlos, so far Carlos has usually looked the better racer. With both cars up the sharp end and hopefully out of the 'squabble' in mid-midfield I watch with interest. So often Lando seems to lose a couple of places at the start and Carlos gain them, so..

Unless the Mercs get a bad start, he'll try to avoid overtaking them in order to not lose net time.Big Tea wrote: ↑06 Sep 2020, 14:15Ah, I was looking forward to thatthe EDGE wrote: ↑06 Sep 2020, 14:14I don’t see Carlos gaining a couple of places at the start this time round unfortunatelyBig Tea wrote: ↑06 Sep 2020, 13:29Although Lando has more point than Carlos, so far Carlos has usually looked the better racer. Its not his race, why waste resource fighting Merc and RbR.
But it can also destroy your front tires... The teams are running such low downforce setups that running close enough to someone to be on DRS could also be a problem.M840TR wrote:Having DRS can actually help with tire management at Monza by allowing slow exits to protect the rears and still remaining in touch through the slipstream.SmallSoldier wrote: ↑06 Sep 2020, 00:49Very pessimistic outlook for tomorrow... The tow works up to 4-5 seconds behind a car, so even if Mercedes do build a quick gap, the tow may allow him to keep the cars behind at bay... In addition, running in free air if he can brake the DRS from the cars behind will be beneficial from a tire life perspective.proteus wrote: Carlos is actually at the worst possible spot. He might start even better than Bottas, but just enough to get side by side in turn 1-2 which can cost him positions. If he manages to retain his position, then he will start to suffer from lap 3 with DRS being enabled and Mercs allready gone infront of him. He probably wont be able to run away from the chasing pack, since the car is a bit slower when filled with fuel and needs some time to give its full potential.
Tough race tomorrow, hopefully no mechanical breakdowns and both cars in top 10.
Pretty hard to tell how the race will develop tomorrow.

What might help the team is having a skinnier rear wing than both RP and Renaults. I’m not sure about the Redbull though.
Do you think? He's a racer, and they have fought at the start to get past Mercs at the start before, so I think he will ignore what car it is and go for it if he sees a chance.
Rears are more important in stop & go circuits.SmallSoldier wrote: ↑06 Sep 2020, 14:53But it can also destroy your front tires... In any case... We are 10 minutes away from race start... It’s almost 7am around here... Let’s hope for clean getaways!
