:) Indeed.

Although the paint still being on the radiator isn't a big deal to moanlower, some people might still find it interesting. Plus I rely on people like shaddock and others who have a great eye for little differences and details, so I applaud shaddock for pointing it out =D>
Best regards. I guess this explains why I'm not at my post!

P1 was taken at last year's Bahrain Grand Prix with a time of 1:33.096. The fastest lap during the race was 1:33.193.

Timo Glock has so far set the best time at the Bahrain test with a lap of 1:33.501.

I'm amazed the times are so close given the major changes in the technical regulations.

Jeez, get real. #-o If it was an issue they would have completely removed the paint or even replaced the radiator.

Nobody said it was an issue. He was simply pointing it out.

Pretty cool stuff. Everyone always says the regs can try to take away downforce and speed, but the teams will always find a way to get it back. =D>

That does make it look good, but if you remember, Massa pulled off a 1:29.9 in testing last year, Kimi a low 1:30, and the average time was 1:31.

Yes, but there wasn't a 40% reduction in downforce from 2007 to 2008. Granted, the 40% number is an estimation, and you have to consider slick tyres, but I find it very impressive.

I agree, I just don't want to use those times as a comparison to last year just yet. I'm sure everyone including me, is trying to assess, just where all the teams/cars stand.

I tried to compare the Jerez times from from last year's test to this years and the Bahrain test as well but wasn't able to come to a coherent conclusion mainly because you'd have to compare the best times from last year to the current best times in testing.

From what I've found so far, the RB5 seems to be the team that gained the most and is operating on the slimmest of margins to the best times set by any team at Jerez in 08.

I know it's only testing and unaccurate, but perhaps somebody could take a better analysis of the teams' times so far compared to the best times set by any team running an 08 car last year at the respective track be it Bahrain or Jerez.

In other words, which team has shown to have clawed back the most speed thus far to the best time set during testing at Jerez/Bahrain last year?

Regards.

I'm sure that 80hp boost down the main straight doesnt hurt the lap times this year either.

Good point, didnt i read somewhere a functioning KERS package could be worth as much as 0.1/0.2 seconds a lap IIRC.

Maybe the R29 and Renault isn´t in that big trouble at all

Alonso in a stint of 11 with constantly midrange 1:21's ... best so far a 1:21,3

is it just me or do renault have two subtly different skirted noses, check:

Looks to me like the second one has the skirt angled in more in under the nose.. or it could simply be the light or the angle, not sure

Its a different angle throwing him off - the nose is identical in both pics but the 2nd is taken from lower down.

About Renault, could the difference have been the driver?
