Post

Did anyone notice Lance Stroll at the end of his interview. He said let me go to sleep and he would worry about the race tomorrow.

I think it hit him who's behind him... Obviously everyone... But specifically Max and Perez who he cannot possibly beat because if he can manage to stay in front of Perez he will probably be undercut with a tire management master class from Sergio which will open up the possibilities for Max to beat him if he tries to stay ahead of Pérez. Stroll has to almost ignore Sergio.

That's the first thing Lance needs to do is to run his own race completely and only focused on Max.

Max needs to worry about quickly getting infront of Stroll so that Lance doesn't hold him up and then they get undercut by Perez both Stroll and Max. So Max needs to very very quickly get ahead of Stroll and then let the Racing Points fight each other and during that fight Max can then easily win....

Sergio will go for a long strategy no matter what it's his only chance. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Albon get ahead of Perez in the opening laps since Perez won't exactly be racing for track position but rather managing tires....

So perhaps RedBull has Albon attack and slow down both Racing Points by creating some traffic to allow Max to avoid the Perez undercut and at the same time gather distance to the rest of the field with Albon fighting the Force India's.
For the first time Albon will actually come into play as a number 2 driver...

Essentially if Max ignores Perez and quickly gets ahead if Stroll and at the same time Albon can manage to hold up at least Perez if not possibly also Stroll

We could very easily see a Max EASY Victory. That he will take between laps 1 - 25.

By then Mercedes might get back on the podium but I dont think they will catch up to Max.

Essentially the Racing Points and Albon could potentially hold back Mercedes enough to give Max an easy win.
But I still think Perez could potentially undercut both Stroll and Albon. But I think Albon will probably lock up his tires early get some patches and have to end up on a 2 stop strategy and potentially go P6... Hes shown he's very bad at breaking into turns. Stroll has better speed then Albon in race and Perez has better race speed then Stroll.

But the Mercedes is still Mercedes(King)...
So...

My prediction is

Max
Hamilton
Perez
Bottas
Stroll.

also in terms of wet tyres it could be interesting tomorrow (if needed), as basically no one from the top 15 has any new sets of full wets left
I was thinking that too. I understand the reason for strict tyre allocation but at what point does this become a potential safety issue if teams start running out of tyres which are fit for purpose?

The dumpster shots of VER are really strange. He’s in prime position for tomorrow; pole shouldn’t matter so much you’d think, he’s not a rookie anymore
Totally. Cant let things like this get into his head. It’s a potential weakness he needs to shake off. Hardly a disaster to be starting p2 with a great chance of winning. Dangerous to look so down. Chin up son!

Hoping the stewards can't find him and will forget about the yellows?

Here’s one. How annoying will it be if Ronald MacMasi and the wrecking crew ruin it all by nmhanding out multiple penalties retrospectively for Q1?
Om my.. That would be soo tasty! Hehe. I want it to happen!

Lol, although no way Max was in the yellows when they were out, he was at the front of the line when cars were out there. It was more the group at the back end. Merc's were back there but neither improved on that lap.

I think he was actually in front of them, the indecent was after he passed.

Exactly. So he did not ignore them, he was already in front of them when they came. So why did you post that message, if you knew already?

Dude needs to recalibrate. Points are rewarded tomorrow and this might be his cleanest chance at a race win all year. Sh*t.

yes, I just checked, he was ahead. Here are those who were affected by the Kvyat/Latifi yellows at the end of Q1:

Kvyat / Sector 1 - 3rd mini sector
LEC personal best
GIO no personal best
OCO no personal best
LAT no personal best
RUS no personal best
SAI no personal best

Latifi - Sector 2 - 4th mini sector
RUS personal best
SAI personal best
RIC no personal best
GAS personal best
MAG no personal best
BOT no personal best
KVY no personal best
STR no personal best
PER no personal best
NOR no personal best
HAM no personal best

so those with a personal best (LEC, SAI and GAS - RUS starts last anyway) could potentially face a penalty, I guess

He really cares about those pole positions. He always is upset about losing them and he has lost quite a few already usually due to his own fault. But today he was screwed by his team.

Looking on yellows during wet quali is a bit exaggeration - on such conditions on each turn someone could go off track, so having green from start to end is almost impossible.
