Wow, Max took it hard getting outqualified by Stroll.

Another "L" for Max in the wet again. I understand his frustration.

Not as big as hamilton's L in 6th place 5s off the pace though.

But only one was crying next to a bin...

With experience comes the understanding that you don't always get what you want. Also, the understanding that there is only one other car on the grid this weekend that matters to Hamilton. And that car is starting 3 places behind him.

Verstappen will make mincemeat of Stroll in the race anyway, as I don't expect him to have any kind of race pace to speak of. If Perez can get ahead of Verstappen, then it's a different story.

Forget that! Stroll will make his famous Stroll move, driving around like he's the only one. Taking Max out driving into him in the corner and swooping out Perez skillfully at the same time.....and that in the first round....

I think Mercedes got it wrong big time in QF. They were always last in going out? got the tire wrong (wets), late again for the change and then were also impacted by the yellows on both of their only attempts in Q3?

If they couldn’t get the wets to work in the conditions would the inters really have been better? Max was raging about being put on inters, would his aborted lap on wets have been fast enough for pole?

Not sure. I just think the Mercedes needed time to get heat into their tires, so doing multiple laps and getting closer to the target time was key. When they (along with everyone else on full wets) realized they were on the wrong tire, it all went to hell with being late and last to the right tire, with only time for two timed runs and along having everyone else ahead of them to be compromized by every incident happening ahead.

Ps: if it is also true that Bottas had a spin, it most definitely would have compromized Lewis being that he was ahead. It probably wouldnt have mattered much though, they were on the back foot throughtout the session.

What a chaotic qualifying. Everyone who wants to see more of that must be more into show than racing.

I feel the same way, it felt silly and artificial because it was almost a crap-shoot for whoever got the tyres working well.

Isn't that generally the whole thing with every sport ever?

That grid lineup is in no way indicative of driver skill, which apparently is all we rely on in conditions like this lol. I think Max is odds on for the win tomorrow from the front row. Unless it's dry and then I expect maybe the Mercedes to make their way through.

It's funny, because people always say that rain or changing conditions is the great equalizer, but now that Stroll owned the field this suddenly doesn't apply anymore? Does Lawrence own a coffee business or something, because apparently Stroll has been pissing in a lot of people's coffee.

Wet + oil + cold temps is not the same a say, the wet conditions in Styria. If you don't understand that I can't help you.

The gap between Vettel and Leclerc is peculiar though. How can Vettel be so much ahead now that Ferrari is fully focused on Leclerc. Vettel typically is good in the rain.

Lec is about as comfortable in the rain as your average Gila Monster. Major dry skills though.

Watching the qualifying highlights, I noticed there's a vortex running either side underneath the floor on cars with capes, but not J-vanes. That's very interesting. Although the AT had two vortecies under the floor on each side, or it may have been debris not sure.
