2 litres of petrol thrown around makes a huge fireball. If the fuel tank had been ruptured and 100 kgs had come out, they would not have put it out with hand held fire extinguishers.

I'm struggling to see why people can't see that if the fuel tank had ruptured and allowed 100kg of fuel to flow out and catch fire, it would have been a huge fire, not one that could be put out by hand held fire extinguishers.

No, 2 litres of petrol will not cause such a huge fireball....
Fuel tank was intact.
The fire cause was the coolant.

Kudos to Romain. Fight or flight took over as well as a huge adrenaline dump. Not long ago, he would likely have been decapitated. Wow.

As for the barriers (and now a guy running across the track), FIA is a mess. They need to learn from NASCAR (as much as I know they think that’s below them) on how to run races, protect the racers, and manage their marshalls.

Grosjean’s crash was horrific, but the race was milquetoast otherwise.

Happy that he's ok but Grosjean needs his ass kicked when it's fully recovered. Terrible lack of awareness and a very violent change of direction. The FIA need to start handing out heavy bans for that kind of life-risking behaviour. Too many drivers feel invulnerable.

100kg of petrol wouldn't be put out by a couple of hand held fire extinguishers. It would need a full fire appliance to deal with that much fuel. Trust me, they'#d use every hand held extinguisher on the track to put out 100kgs of fuel.

2 litres of petrol (nearly half a gallon) is a lot of fuel.

Much of the fluid on the floor will have been coolant.
