It can simultaneously be true that Hamilton is GOAT and its not good for F1 health for him to be in the GOAT constructor (this rule cycle at least).
It’s always been thus. The best teams want the best drivers. That still doesn’t remove the fact that clearly some just don’t like watching great driving live but would rather look back and wish them to be driving after their retirement which is somewhat odd. 8-[
I think your reply undervalues the "of all time" part of GOAT - and what this many years of both of those OATs acting multiplicatively is doing / has done to F1.

Once again, a race thread has been side tracked to the old "my driver is better than yours" arguments. Please have a look at the title of the thread and restrict your comments to the actual GP.

Most of the drivers are forseeing issues with big delta differences in Q

Vettel: “It’s not just the middle section; the whole track is short obviously and it will be the same amount of cars so I guess Q1 will be very tight,” Vettel said. “The other thing that doesn’t help is we have to go very slow in the cool[down] laps to bring the tyres down so that’s probably the worst factor."

Wouldnt it be a solution to cool down after the hotlap using the regular track?
Only feeding back in for the pits might be tricky, but I guess it's a bit late for that now though.

looks like it was just an isolated shower at the hotel. The track is (and was) bone-dry

There could be a few surprises in Q1 I think. Looking forward to it!

How ironic would it be if Russell DIDN’T get out of q1 for once?!

he won't get his usual three shots at it at least. Mercedes is fairly short on soft tires (unless they plan to save a set or two in FP3).

he does not have to be fastest, just in the top 15, then 10.
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

yeah, sure, but saving so many of the hard(er) tires for the race is still a risky approach for Russell. Both Mercedes are now down to 3 sets of Softs for the whole Qualifying, so he basically can't afford any mistakes, and whether he'll be able to go through Q2 on Mediums is still a bit of an unknown an well.

So FP3 is finished and it seems the Mercedes drivers have swapped their helmets again.......
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

Drivers who get into Q3 get a fresh set of softest tires. Plus I doubt most teams will run the softs at all during the race.

Bottas shaking off the initial jitters and back on form. Hmph. Shows no matter the driver, one still has to get used to the car, even on a short track like this. George needs a very clean lap to be within a few tenths. He is not going to beat Bottas relying on Bottas mistakes anymore it seems.
