Why can’t Norris close the gap to Ricciardo?

It seems like these tyres aren’t going to last. We need to get ahead of the Renault. And Sainz needs a bigger gap.
Watching over tires?

All Sainz can do is make a distance to cover a possible 5 second penalty. Hopefully nothing will happen. In the meantime we need Vettel to play Shield for us. In the meantime Ricciardo is faster at the moment compared to us.

I can't believe we are not able to catch Ricciardo with tyres 11 laps younger.
They can catch him. It's not a good idea though. It would be very difficult to pass, and in the process you are ruining your tires. Tires that will probably be on the limit of the 1 stop anyway ...

It’s either burning into the tire and guarantee that you can’t 1 stop trying to overtake. Or sit outside the wake and hope you can make it. Personally I cannot see how they are going to make it on this set. We are definitely not out of the woods yet

In any case Sainz must build more of a distance cause we don't know what is gonna happen. So far so good. Vettel is playing shield and Sainz is getting distance to use for a possible penalty later. On another note bravo to Ricciardo and I can't wait to have him next year if he knows how to keep those tyres that much.

At the mercy of a stewards decision. Fingers crossed they see sense a bit. If it’s a penalty it shouldn’t be more than 5 sec.

The “under investigation” logo has disappeared. So no penalty?

They set they’ll deal with it at the end of the race...which is just ridiculous. But guess they need to hear from the drivers.

Also Danny Ric could be our saviour as he will be extremely racy towards the end

That is ridiculous indeed. If we get the penalty now, we can take the penalty during the pitstop, before any potential safety car. Now if we get a SC in the final laps and then receive a penalty we get screwed.

Never mind the politics of it all and arguments about “how much this cost Stroll” rather than just looking at the difference just after the stop which was 2sec. SAI made it happen by overtaking VET and shouldn’t be penalised for better overtaking

Because all season long they haven't punished for that.

If he slowed him down he should get a penalty, but at the end of the day, it won't help Stroll. He will still be rubbish.

Now we wait for renaults tyres to drop off.
