McLaren is a beast around here, I expect nothing less as it's their home track, the other being Silverstone.
Bahrain is McLaren's home track? How so?
Kingdom of Bahrain through its sovereign wealth fund Mumtalakat is one of McLaren’s main shareholders

So, quali pace looks to be more than 1 seconds slower than 2020.

I think calling Bahrain Mclaren’s home track is like calling Haas’s, Charlotte Motor Speedway
Ah, I see. And there was me driving by their place in Banbury, England, t'other day...

That's AWS for you. Substandard analysis software, the only saving grace is that it is distributed computing saving you upfront cost in resources.

It's so bad though that it's actually cheaper and more productive to buy rigs and make your own analysis software in house.

The resolution of their analysis reflects that.

RBR has the fastest car at the moment. The long runs show that, but Mercedes is close, at least Hamilton has race winning pace.

McLaren is a beast around here, I expect nothing less as it's their home track, the other being Silverstone.
As far as I'm aware, the Friday pace analysis from Lawrence Barretto does not come from AWS, FWIW.

Aston S3? :wtf:

If I remember correctly, Vettel went quite wide on the last corner and lost a chunk of time. If this is only taking into account the fastest lap of the two drivers his mistake might be making Aston Martin look worse than they actually are in S3.
Isn’t it a bit weird that Ferrari are so fast in S1? Even Leclerc’s lap had a good S1, just not as good as Sainz.

Perhaps they’re just overdriving too early in the lap or the car is using the grip too soon, but there doesn’t seem to be (as far as I can understand) a particular characteristic of S1 that’s dramatically different then the other sectors.
Sainz had a tow in his fastest lap. His engineer said it was worth a tenth. Regardless, Leclerc also a set a fast S1 in FP1 so I'm thinking this car has a little SF90 in it in terms of straightline speed.

Well, 2 weeks ago the fastest lap was a 1:28.9 .. that was a full 2 seconds faster. Q3 laptimes will be significantly different from today's Q simulations I reckon.

I was thinking the same. I couldn't believe that they would ALL be sandbagging, but then I remembered that having only 3 engines for the 23 race season meant that they must baby the engines during practice to make them last.

I know of Spec Miata racers who go through a lot more engines than that

Yeah, this is indeed important information. Mystery modes multiplied by what is track evolution normally in Bahrain?

I still wouldn't be surprised if this is Toto's greatest heist yet, truly blessed with some of the best fans.

After watching the fastest lap video by Max yesterday, I actually believe it’s not going be close at at in Q3, but utter annihilation. Happy to be proven wrong.

Right and you see that in the traces someone posted - there definitely seems to be a high end of straight top speed but a low(er) minimum in slow corners. You do wonder if there’s a bit more setup work they can do - eg wing levels - to sacrifice a bit at the top end and so add a bit of ‘dirty’ downforce, which you would imagine would aid deg/race pace.

I think there can be no doubt that the PU has recovered significantly though.
