MERC not bad in aggregate. VER has to run and hide tomorrow
Max will miss Perez being up there to help him. Mercedes at least have the chance to use both drivers to pressure Red Bull's pit strategy.
This

That's the reason Perez was brought in wasn't it, to give them some statergy options to help Max.

I am so impressed with Gasly, Alpha and HONDA

Speed traps all show HONDA power pulling well.

I'm smiling inside. I always felt Gasly has the talent and he is shining. 0.5 off a Mercedes.

Hats off to the team and HONDA.

Like the cake in the face!!!

Redbull is faster. This is their year.

As always, testing revealed a lot *again* and body language from Merc/Ham was indeed genuine and my gut feeling was right :D

Precisely.

I know people don’t rate the Merc driver pairing compared to other teams and people love to rag on BOT, but he does the job - it must be said.
Team ANTI-HYPE. Prove it, then I’ll anoint you.

Alonso is so slow...

With Ocon P8 a top driver like RIC or past ALO could have been P6

Let’s wait until Barcelona to see the full picture of teams and drivers
Guy's old. Should have stayed retired and make room for the new generation....
The new generation team mate went out in Q1, while the old guy dragged that Alpine to Q3. Not too shabby.
That's true, but still, I'd rather see a few youngsters that have many years ahead of them then the return of Alonso. Just because it's nice to have new faces every now and then; there are only 20 seats after all, and it's nice if they are not occupied by the same person for 20 years.

This is what we want to see a good fight. 3 tenths is the closest we have seen in years. Clearly Mercedes is still the fastest their 2-3 suggests. Max dragged that lap out of the bag. Leclerc also in the hunt.
Not sure how you make Mercedes the faster car with everything we've seen for the last two weeks and this weekend. The RedBull is the quicker car and Max did an excellent job driving it. But that wasn't a "he out performed his car" moment.

2 manufacturers fighting again.
Four tenths. Purple in all sectors. High top speed. Balanced poise through the corners.

I smell dominance.

It's Round 1 of a 23 race season. They've ONLY been on this track so far this year.

I would hope a site called F1Technical would attract a lot more impartial people, but I just realize most everyone is just an adult cheerleader.

Some poor person back in the motor home kitchen probably spent time making that and thought it was going to be on TV. Well, it was but not in the way they thought.

I feel the only person that can match Verstappen in the Bull is Russell.

Yes, Perez would have been probably 3rd maybe 2nd.

over the past 10 years, Red Bull maybe should have noticed that Perez is known for being gentle with soft tyres, and not for getting hard ones up to temperature quickly, though?!

Wether because they were kneecapped by the rules or just being unable to keep extracting more from the package Mercedes seems to have stood still, and the pack at large (not just Red Bull) caught up a great deal, they don't suck but they are human now.

Good progress by Red Bull-Honda on all fronts.
Leclerc coming alive at the end, and good job by Ferrari on their car.
Alonso after looking rusty through FP also showed up in Q.

Anyway, get to work guys, mini-sectors, speed traps, video comparisons...
