Congrats to Max, although the big news for me is Ferrari's pace. Charles only a tenth behind Bottas and 3 tenths behind Lewis. This is some major comeback from the horrific pace of last year. Lets hope it continues, although i dont see them challenging Merc and Redbull. They will fight it out with McLaren for the odd podium here and there.

I missed qualifying but saw that Max got pole. Huge congrats to him. Looks like a good start to the season. Hopefully this year we'll get to see Max and Hamilton trading blows. Looking forward to tomorrow's race!

You’ve got to think the Mercedes/RB strategists (especially Mercedes) are probably a bit annoyed that Leclerc is just behind on softs.

I’m sure the Ferrari is a fundamentally slower car than the one tenth to Bottas in quali would make it seem, so if Charles jumps one or both Mercs off the line he could disrupts a bit.

Actually maybe RB will be happy!

congratulations to max and red bull. great job!

perez, as expected, was not upto the mark.
leclerc, gasly and ricciardo showed the trade of q3 to their team mates. they held back long enough to outqualify their team mates.

mercedes has lost over 2 seconds to the spec and tyre change whereas red bull lost over 1.5 seconds. so it was the best of who could claw back the lost performance.
Nah. Perez was 3 tenths off on the same tyre in Quali. That's good for his first quali in this car next to Max. The fault was the strategy. They should have put him on softs. Tsunoda suffered similarly.

This is what we want to see a good fight. 3 tenths is the closest we have seen in years. Clearly Mercedes is still the fastest their 2-3 suggests. Max dragged that lap out of the bag. Leclerc also in the hunt.

2 manufacturers fighting again.
Four tenths. Purple in all sectors. High top speed. Balanced poise through the corners.

I smell dominance.
dominance would be getting p1 and p2 not p1 and p11
Team mistake.

You don't simply walk Mercedes by four tenths in Q3 and dominate all sessions of Winter testing and Free practice... Without.. A dominant car.

Did you beleive Valtteri left 6 tenths on the table in his run?

RedBull is dominant for this race. And the Merc Boy can only limit the damage now by keeping Perez off the podium. It will be a long season ahead..

Well, a few days back you were smelling a rocket ship from Mercedes. :) So let's see how all that will pan out.

I can smell dominance by RBR as well and had that feeling in testing already. The atmosphere is simply a different one this time and has been since testing. They seem to be seriously sure about their package and you can sense that.

I was careful to say they are will be rocket ship after fiveraces. I knew RedBull will run things early out..

The base mercedes is still quick if they can get to handle properly. Telemetry shows Mercedes losing on the corner entry and have to comoromixe the exit a bit. But the base car, when the token parts come into play... Should be quick i have now doubt.

RedBull is dominant now and its just to limit the damage untill our upgrades come into play.

I havent put this "Octo-God" signature here without good insight.

Anyway. See you all tomorrow. If we can keep Perez off the second step that should be good.

Perez was out qualified by both AT including a rookie in Q1 on his first qualifying, he had two shots in Q2 to nail it and lost to Gasly when track condition was the same. The only thing working his favour is that Redbull this year have a huge pace advantage over midfield so easy pickings. The Pink Mercedes flattered Perez last year, he should be much faster than AT given his experience.

So the team already makes such a mistake on race one, lets see if they can fix it

"Our upgrades" :D Why ours???

RB will develop the car so it's wishful thinking, but for sure not impossible. But they have a budget cap and a car for 2022 to develop so we'll see.

Ferrari/Charles set up the car more towards qualy and Merc more towards race, don`t you think?
