Aston Martin AMR21

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Sidepods looking a lot more "ramp like" a less aggressive version of last years design.

Yes I noticed yesterday that they updated the sidepods/engine cover too

Interesting change. On one end the sidepod packaging has shrunk, but on the other end the initial slope is smaller, and the way it ends seems relatively crude. The point where top and side flow 'merges' is much, much later.

Trying to strengthen the diffuser seal? This almost looks like those 2013 (2012?) RBR/Sauber sidepods

are they going to revert to the steeper angle one on higher downforce circuits? w12's sidepod too is a more subtle version of the w11's

Imola is higher df than Bahrain and they used the shallower, longer slope for that though.

It looks a lot like the MP4-25 sidepods of old

Aah. The trend is to avoid acute angles between surfaces. Simple rule of thumb, but effective.
