Vodaphone McLaren Mercedes MP4-24

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Shark fin for Mclaren?? Any more pic of it?
that's not a shark fin, it just the cover stretched tight between the air intake and the left upright of the rear wing.

anybody could dig up a collection of recent images with different cars lifted? This could give an idea about the weight distribution differences. Macca looks quite heavy on the rare? I remember seeing other cars more tilted.

So was there any need for that? If I was him I would have looked back over the past pages to read up on what was happening. He posted something extremely obvious, and that was pointed out lots of times before, so I just had a little sarcastic joke.. And then you post this? Jeez, relax.

Yes there was.

Whenever a first poster comes on, you don't jump down their throat.

It is a rather distasteful event I've seen here all too often.

I did not jump down their throat, it was not in bad taste, it was not offensive, but it was a little bit of sarcasm. Or is that not allowed?

With a first time poster, its in bad taste.

You should be aware of that. Unless you are lacking in manners?

You have to be careful when analysing the tilt as the cars have different lifting hook positions (I think) and this will influence the car's tilt.

Oh, fine, whatever you say

If the person I was referring to is offended (and we don't even know that yet), then I apologize for causing you that offense, and meant no harmful feelings by what I said.

Let's return to the common interest of F1, OK?

Yeah spot on mate, looking at a car tilting when being lifted is not a particularly accurate way to guage weight distribution. But if you know where the connecting position is, then you could i guess. I remember someone on here doing some photo comparisons between cars and it appeared the McLaren airbox was alot more closer to the rear. I think most of the cars have the 'hook point' a little rearward of the centre between front and rear wheel centrelines, and that said, even a 50/50 balanced car would appear "nose heavy". That the McLaren's 'hook point' appears further rearwards than most, it would probably suggest that their weight balance is more toward the rear.
