It's faster getting past blue flags then someone you need to pass. And at that point they weren't getting close to lapping Haas
Nah, I think it’s just the ‘leading at Monaco’ jitters. He’ll bring it home safe and sound.
We've seen now multiple times his car is harvesting half way trough the tunnel and thats where everyone gains on him.
I think this is easy to say after the fact. As it was happening we did not know either. In normal races this would not have been a problem as the Merc would be able to overtake easily.PlatinumZealot wrote: ↑23 May 2021, 16:04Mercedes really were idiots for a moment there with Hamilton and Gasly. The Alfa tauri is slower for christ sake they should have made Gasly pit first then Hamilton pushes in clean air for the overcut. What were they thinking?
What have you been watching?epo wrote: ↑23 May 2021, 16:08Calm down mate, even in the fastest car on the grid this can happen.PlatinumZealot wrote: ↑23 May 2021, 16:04Mercedes really were idiots for a moment there with Hamilton and Gasly. Agree. They were looking too much at what was ahead of them and not enough at what was behind them. But let that not take away from Aston’s great work.grubschumi13 wrote: ↑23 May 2021, 16:21I think this is easy to say after the fact. As it was happening we did not know either. But you got to give Merc some slack, it's not as if they are the only ones making plans and strategy in this race. they were watching Gasly, who probably had something too in reserve that he used to stay ahead and Vettel went for the overcut. You cannot guarantee 100% that your strategy will always be the one that works best.
Passing is next to impossible here, yes. But how long would have the others around Hamilton stayed out if Hamilton himself wouldn't have boxed that early? Remember, they have different priorities. Potentially blocking Verstappen if he would stop is not on their list. They reacted to their direct opponent and that was all there is to it.
