It's not that simple in Monaco. If you run into backmarkers you're potentially screwed. That was always the problem here.
You mean lapped cars?
Yes
It's faster getting past blue flags then someone you need to pass. And at that point they weren't getting close to lapping Haas

@Juzh The gremlins you mentioned may be true ?
Nah, I think it’s just the ‘leading at Monaco’ jitters. He’ll bring it home safe and sound.

Mercedes really were idiots for a moment there with Hamilton and Gasly. The Alfa tauri is slower for christ sake they should have made Gasly pit first then Hamilton pushes in clean air for the overcut. What were they thinking?
I think this is easy to say after the fact. As it was happening we did not know either. In normal races this would not have been a problem as the Merc would be able to overtake easily.

But you got to give Merc some slack, it's not as if they are the only ones making plans and strategy in this race. they were watching Gasly, who probably had something too in reserve that he used to stay ahead and Vettel went for the overcut. You cannot guarantee 100% that your strategy will always be the one that works best.

The gap is there but Mercedes strategy are having a shocker so they will probably do nothing and lose out on the extra point

Calm down mate, even in the fastest car on the grid this can happen.
What have you been watching?
Not this grid its not. RedBull and Ferrari are much faster, arguably the McLaren too. Didn't you see Bottas was dropping like a stone behind Max?

Agree. They were looking too much at what was ahead of them and not enough at what was behind them. But let that not take away from Aston’s great work.

Congrats RedBull . Gongrats Maxie. You were the better team today. Baku should be a RedBull track with that ungodly downforce and that bendy wing. Dont see Mercedes recovering still France.

Passing is next to impossible here, yes. But how long would have the others around Hamilton stayed out if Hamilton himself wouldn't have boxed that early? Remember, they have different priorities. Potentially blocking Verstappen if he would stop is not on their list. They reacted to their direct opponent and that was all there is to it.

Finally some action! Can Norris hold on? I hope so. He’s driven superbly today and this season. Fully deserves the podium.
