The last few FP session have been relatively late too, right? I was surprised when I found out that in Austria FP1 was at half past 11 (local time) while FP2 only started at 15h (ie. roughly around when this weekends FP1 will start). Probably hope to give US audience a better opportunity indeed, though for me it means I can't have it on in background during home office but am likely to miss it due to wife getting home, dinner and family time.mkay wrote: ↑16 Jul 2021, 13:06I mean that's pretty obvious... they want to maximise viewership both in Europe and the Americas.yelistener wrote: ↑16 Jul 2021, 12:58Sorry buy why do they move the sessions to be 3 hours later than previously? FP2, now the qualifying, is at 6pm. Is that a night race or what? I'm sure it has a whole lot to do with the new format, but for what exact purpose?
Nobody would watch qualifying at 2pm on a Friday; but if it's at 6pm (UK), then people will be off work and/or at home watching (in Europe), and you get people on their lunch break in North America.
