No DRS in sprint race, right ?
DRS is still enabled AFAIK. They were considering changing it to 2 seconds gap for sprint qualifying, but that idea was dropped.
Yes
For the sole purpose of improving overtaking opportunities during the sprint qualifying session and the race the adjustable bodywork may be activated by the driver after he has completed two laps after the race start or following a safety car period during each sprint qualifying session or a race.

Are they allowed to change RW DF levels? Apparently RBR was running too much RW which shifted balance rearwards and caused the understeer for Max.
Been looking at the rules, I think they are limited to front wing, brakes and suspension. Would be strange ommiting rear wing angle with all that though.
Normal part ferme applies. Can change brake blanking, tyre pressures and front wing flap.

When Mazepin is 12 with most of the Practice done, you know this sessions is completely worthless. Absolutely no point to this and I´m glad I only glanced at it instead of watching it

Btw, on my local news it was said that the UK registered record covid cases in months.......

Martin Brundle waxing lyrical there. He's no Wordsworth but he was really living that moment in the sunshine.

Nobody can realistically say which car is faster. It's been the same old Mercedes PR BS that's gone on for seven years. Better to enjoy the title fight than just endlessly argue about this crap.
Data can help us with that. It’s close, but on balance, RBR have been a smidge faster.

It doesn't account for human variables. Data can only be a reference. When you add circumstances and situational stuff to it, it's almost redundant. For example, RBR was undoubtably the class of the field in Baku, but if Max can't finish the race, it's useless. The data is redundant.

Very true. Lets see what the sprint qualifying throws up.
I'm hoping Mercedes can maintain their 'stronger in the race than in qualifying' and have a fairly comfortable day tomorrow.
Well we can hope. The championship is pretty much dead otherwise.
I will not count Lewis and Mercedes out. Also, experience helps. In 2006, the championship was over for many at various points for both drivers but in reality it never was till Michael had his puncture on Lap 1/2 in Brazil.

Frankly the vaccinated folks should be required to submit a negative test as well. The vaccine doesn't prevent carrying or transmitting the virus. So then if you are admitting non-vax you are potentially putting them at risk. Not to mention the potential to propagate at the track and then carry outside to the wider public.
Or require a vaccine passport to attend, thereby also incentivising more folks to get vaccinated and hence better protecting everyone. These last 10 per cent or so of vaccinations are vital to actually reach a herd immunity and going to be hard to fill unless it’s actually required in order to go back to ‘normal’.

In other news, channel 4 in the UK showing extended previews of the silly little skits and features they’ve got coming up *during a session*…. Yeah, who wants to see the cars when I can see a man in fake beard driving a taxi while talking rubbish to Max?

According to Chandok, you're allowed a tire change in the sprint race too.

I'm fuming about that. Steve Jones sucks anyway. Like max can't identify him.

From the official F1 website;

"The cars will then enter Parc Ferme after FP1, before being released for FP2, which will take place on Saturday morning. "

"They will then return to Parc Ferme ahead of F1 Sprint, before being placed back in the quarantined environment overnight ahead of Sunday’s race."

Lots of contradicting info going around, but it looks like there are completely free to make changes.

Practice. Learn about tyre wear/life.

Is there any point having this practice now that they have done the only quali that counts?
They are doubtful about damaging the cars now or during the sprint, so why not allow a spare car, each could be driven by the spare driver to fill this slot, which is probably why 'practice' is held now anyway?
It's so weird. Like the old pre-race warmup. Very low energy. But most only did short runs yesterday practice.
It feels like they're doing their long run real race sim runs for Sunday.
But the cars are in Park Ferm conditions and little can be changed. It could help tacitly, but don't they run millions of sims for that anyway?
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

are you really watching it or have you just tuned in for a quick glance?

There is no point to it, it´s a session for suckers. Sorry for being blunt about it
