The only thing I know about Bottas junior career is that the jumped from GP3(the crappy one inverted grid and Pirelli tyres, not the Euro F3 that had 3 QLF each weekend and good tyres) to F1 without doing GP2.Mogster wrote: ↑17 Jul 2021, 09:46Bottas’s junior record was pretty stellar. He beat Ricciardo in Formula Renault 2.0 on the way. He’s always had excellent one lap pace, driving the Williams previously also.
Like Mazepin, Latiffi did have a handful of wins in his final F2 season. It was probably one of the weakest F2 fields in recent years though. Mazepin was 2nd to Hubert in GP3 but it was a weak year, Hubert didn’t really shine in GP3. Other than Peter Windsor being a fan of Mazepin’s I can’t see much in Mazepin or Latiffi’s junior record to suggest they are F1 material.
I just checked, Latiffi was a veteran on 2019 and he did won 3 races on the first 3 tracks. Then, after other driver got a bit more used to the cars/series, he only won another race on Hungary and that´s it. He never got a pole but his results are indeed better than I remembered.
That´s my impression as well, at least currently.
That is one of the reasons why I rate him so highly. Sainz trashed Norris for 2 years, who is being hyped to be the greatest thing ever...
The very fact that Charles isn´t being too troubled by Carlos already says a lot to me. Then I remember his poles are all jaw-dropping. Remember the 2019 Spa pole where he was 7 or 8 tenths faster than LH?! Leclerc has a type of QLF speed that I don´t quite see even on Max.
Agree. Ferrari have the best driver line-up by a mile. They have the guy who trashed Vettel and the other who trashed Norris.
