That’s definitely a gearbox change at least, if not PU as well.Just_a_fan wrote: ↑28 Aug 2021, 16:11Such a shame for Lando - he was very likely to take pole and now will start 10th - assuming the car doesn't need PU/gearbox replacements.

He was being quite sensible. Go figure, now the sun is out by the pits.
It’s all on maximum. There is a river on one side and a rock formation at the other.Hoffman900 wrote: ↑28 Aug 2021, 16:18I think they need to push the spectator area back some, otherwise, leave the corner as is.
It’s totally feasible from an engineering perspective looking at aerials / isometric views.
If you spin on an oval, you don’t countersteer, or you go head first like Gordon Smiley or Earnhardt Sr. Norris arguably should have went “both feet in”when that back stepped out on him, but easy to say now. They’re reacting how they have all their life. So not a criticism, he’s a badass for trying to go full send into that corner in the rain.Jolle wrote: ↑28 Aug 2021, 16:27It’s all on maximum. Oh and also, at ovals they don’t do rain.
They can do what Interlagos did and build a retaining wall to extend the run-off area.Jolle wrote: ↑28 Aug 2021, 16:27It’s all on maximum. It's not an engineering problem, it's a political one. Plenty of environmentalist noise is made when such things are mooted.Hoffman900 wrote: ↑28 Aug 2021, 16:30Rock formation is easy. I live in Colorado in the US. The rock formations I70 goes through in the Rockies makes Eau Rogue look like child’s play. I ran large civil highway projects, the left side (where Lando hit) is doable.
River side, if they wanted would be an elevated platform. We (humans) do stuff like this all the time.
Yes, definitely gearbox. Half of it is now strewn across the circuit. Watching the replays one can see that the gearbox is just gone.LM10 wrote: ↑28 Aug 2021, 16:14That’s definitely a gearbox change at least, if not PU as well.Just_a_fan wrote: ↑28 Aug 2021, 16:11Such a shame for Lando - he was very likely to take pole and now will start 10th - assuming the car doesn't need PU/gearbox replacements.
Yeah, I can’t speak to the politics of there.Just_a_fan wrote: ↑28 Aug 2021, 16:38It's not an engineering problem, it's a political one. Having driven the corner combination a lot myself, it’s not that easy as “don’t countersteer”. It’s a corner you take more or less without feel, you point the car with a flick to the apex on the left at the bottom and then time your movements (right, then left) for the rest. If you loose traction, you’re off in a big way. Looks to me Norris’ his countersteer was more the next flick from muscle memory.Hoffman900 wrote: ↑28 Aug 2021, 16:30If you spin on an oval, you don’t countersteer, or you go head first like Gordon Smiley or Earnhardt Sr. Norris arguably should have went “both feet in”when that back stepped out on him, but easy to say now. Engineering wise and construct ability wise, absolutely.JordanMugen wrote: ↑28 Aug 2021, 16:47Would it be feasible to build an elevated platform for the runoff area? Or blast the rock formation?
