Oh well Verstappen inches 5 points closer to the championship lead. About as many inches of rain that have fallen this weekend at Spa.
I thought the barometer was rising.
I saw it go up a little, then I left to run an errand and it came back down. Shame we couldn't have a proper race here, next up, the Netherlands, very interesting, short lap time, low and medium speed corners, little to no drag penalty.

Who knew it would rain the way it did, that's life.

Can’t wait for Zandvoort. It’s like Hungary 2.0.

This became Indianapolis 2005 level-stuff once they took the SC out there for 2 “laps.”
The rules are stupid. Rather just give quali points if a race is cancelled. I see no issue with that.

The F1 SC needs to be a mule F1 car like the one F1 has designed.

Anyone notice the updated stats for Russell on sky?
12 starts
1 front row
13 points

It’s clear there was no intention of having them out without the safety car all in the name of financial gain, I am sure. The points allocation is almost the secondary issue here.
A defensible and more condemning reading is that they already had this plan in mind when they invoked force majure to ignore the 3hr rule, to buy them more time to play this stupid 2 lap game.

Terrible day all around.
They hoped they could get an hour gap, that is why the used the force majeure. It seemed that wAy at a point. After the yellow radar images it seemed to clear up. But didn’t. So they went out for the 2 laps to honour the Qualy result, grid Punishments etc.

Nothing to be done. Look at the w series crash and caio collets moment. They went safety first.

The worst “race” in years. Crikey, what a bore.

Totally agree. It makes that decision all the more questionable in hindsight. Buying enough time for someone back at F1 HQ to look at the fine print on the tickets and certain contracts with key stakeholders vs the ramifications of a washout?

They knew the weather was getting no better, and indeed when they went back out it was worse than when they were called in. Objectively it completely defies logic and common sense unless you think a bit more deeply.

I’m blaming Masi, but to be fair this could have been way above his head.

The worst thing is that due to boredom I have finished off the beer that was supposed to be for this evening. Hope my son brings his own

I think Haas and Alfa might be a bit annoyed. Those nine points are a lot harder to claw back at the bottom end of the championship.

Exactly what I said earlier. Let’s be brutally honest, the chances of both Williams cars staying in those positions in an actual race probably wasn’t very likely.

I think Haas have already resigned to not scoring any points whatsoever this season.

Gutted for the fans who stayed at the circuit despite rain. Bit surprised they didn’t boo with a farce of a race. But I guess they were mostly Max/RB fans, so might be happy with the result ultimately.

The question here is, if the next race was not the subsequent weekend, could they have rescheduled it to another day? Assuming the marshalls, broadcasting, and other track staff could be arranged. I’m wondering if it’s an unintended consequence of double/triple headers.

But Alfa Romeo should feel really hard done, also Norris - he could've easily scored a top 5 with his pace even from 13th.

Latifi went up to 9th because of Perez' off (2/2=1 point) so it's ten points.
